HCC vs Low Poo

anyone have a preference between HCC and Low Poo? if so, why?

also, what about other sulfate-free 'poos, like trader joes or avalon, etc? are these more drying/damaging than HCC/Low Poo?

I just bought (last month) the gallon of HCC. I love it for its scent and gentleness (same for low poo). My whole family uses the HCC. I also put a bit in the tub--it is very moisturizing for the skin as a bath soak.

THe Low Poo is also a great product. The HCC is what I have always used on my little boy's head; does not sting his eyes--haven't tried the low poo on him, but my older son prefers the low poo.

You would not go wrong with either one

so mia, you'd say they're both equally gentle? is HCC more moisturizing? also, have you ever used any other sulfate-free poos like creme of nature or trader joes?

I have used Trader Joe's conditioners (Nourish being my fave), but not the shampoos. Have not tried creme of nature. I do like most of the Giovanni line though. I think both HCC and Low Poo are equally gentle. My guess is that Hcc is more moisturizing--as my skin does not need any lotions when I use it in the tub.

I've used the HCC and TJ's Nourish sulfate free shampoo (still using it) but to be perfectly honest, I wasn't crazy about either one of them. I only had a sample size of the HCC so maybe I didn't have enough opportunity to use it, but I had the perception it really wasn't cleaning my hair, KWIM? It's entirely possible that it was, but my feeling was that it wasn't working for me.

I've decided that I just can't do the full-blown CG routine, so about 2 months ago I started using sulfate-free shampoos as a compromise. I've used TJ's and a couple different Avalon Organics, and while theay act like I expect a shampoo to act, I hate the way my hair feels after I rinse them out. It is kind of straw-like and tangly. I can't even run my fingers through my hair, and my hair is only shoulder-length when wet.

My next compromise was to mix the Nourish shampoo with equal parts water and Nourish conditioner, and though that helps a little bit, my hair is still tangled after I rinse it. My next batch will be with 2 parts conditioner and if it still feels icky after that, I'm going back to my Biolage, LOL!

I use HCC most of the time, but have the Linen Closet shampoo (made by Jessicurl so none of the bad stuff, just without all the moisturizing) for the greasier hair days.

I have not used Lo Poo, but I like HCC. It is moisturizing, so I couldn't use it every day. One of my fav no-sulfate poos is Creme of Nature (regular formula). Moisturizing (but not too much) and cheap.

thanks for all the replies ladies. i have a sample of HCC and love the way my hair looks/feels when i use it (mostly only on my scalp), and i was wondering if low-poo would be similar. also, i was wondering if i could save some $$ by hitting up cream of nature or trader joes, if those are comparable.

I have tried both and the Low-Poo left my hair oily feeling.
I have a HCC, like it, but it seems too much (ETA: as in drying my scalp) for me right now.
I definitely prefer HCC.
If you avoid silicones like some (me ) the Low-Poo has some I think.

I have not tried the Low Poo (but have some coming in a trade) but I have some HCC. I like it but cannot use it too often, for me, it is *too* moisturizing. I get poofy undefined hair from it. Love the smell and it's gentle but it has too many moisturizers for me. I think Meezer loves the Low Poo, I can't wait to try it.

Hi Chelle! I agree - the HCC give me the same results - fluffy/frizzy hair. I think it's too much moisture for me. Bummer cause I really wanted to like it!

Actually, my hair is on the dry side, and while it felt OK on my hair, I didn't like how my scalp felt after using it. Plus, I had to use a lot of it to get good results with my hair. I didn't think it would be a very good value if I had to buy a bottle every couple of weeks.

This is tough because I use the NP, LP and HCC. But between the LP and HCC, I think I like the LP just a little more, but I can't quite put my finger on the reason. Last night, I did a bit of a crazy experiment, and mixed about equal parts HCC with Suave Citrus Smoothie to clean my hair with and followed with TS. Don't ask me why, but I just wanted to try it and see what happened.
