I was going through some old Harry Potter themed pics of me and came across one that shows the costume nicely. But, oh, the hair. I forgot that I had more fuzz than curl! Dude, this is soooo funny. I still laugh when I dress as a Ravenclaw and people call me Hermione. Thank goodness I found this website!!!
Why the difference in your hair is amazing! Your curls are so defined and glossy now.
It's an adorable picture btw!
3a/3b thick coarse WL dark brown hair. CG/Mod CG since: 5/4/05. Current products: Right now my hair is in such a tizzy over this winter weather we are hving that nothing really seems to be working. I need a haircut.
Wow your curls now are so inspiring. It gives me hope to stick to the CG routine!
I'm glad that it was helpful! My first few weeks on cg were quite awkward and I thought that it would not work for me. I'm glad that I stayed around here and stuck it out. Even when I have bad days or months long stretches of product issues, I can just look at old pictures and remind myself that my curls have made bunches of progress.
Funny about other curlies being called Hermione. Part of why I started to like the HP series was because there was a curly main character. I always pictured her as a 3b (with some 3C perhaps) with big volume.
Tell us all what you USED to do to make your hair do that? Did you brush it, etc?
That is how my hair usually was.
I didn't dry brush/comb it at all. I couldn't anyway since it was tangled and it just hurt too badly. I would shampoo, condition, put some type of cream or serum in and diffused dry. I only wet combed it. I never plopped or anything like that.
I guess that lots of sulfates and cones weren't my thing. I tried lots of that John Freida stuff thinking that there was truth in advertising. I could some decent days (though they'd be an off day by my current standards) with Curls Rock Amplifier.
I am just "blessed" in the volume department. It can fuzz well.
Your hair transformation is amazing. Are you pretty strict CG now?
I've always thought that you have the most striking hair, both in color and curl. It's beautiful and an inspiration to all of us curlies.
Gee thanks! I am lucky to have a good colorist, lol. I still think you've had one of the most dramatic changes in hair! You have great corkscrews.
I was off cg for about two months due to my extreme protein issues. I couldn't find a protein free condish that was moisturizing enough, so I used an EMBS/EMBC combo. The sulfates in the EMBS took out the protein from the EMBC.
So, about 9 months cg, 2 months off. I have been back on for about two weeks now as I found some promising condishes thanks to a post from thinfine.
I am a diffuser user and I'm not above keeping Lo-Poo or EMBS for a monthly use. I should be fine with my current condishes since I am usually cool after the two week trial run to make sure that nothing dries me out. The last time I found a good protein free conditioner, I found out that long term use of isopropyl myristate dries me out severely. Some are prone to being weighed down. I'm prone to getting dried out.
I hated going back to poo, but I was even drier from the protein. But, both sulfates and protein give me brakage. grrr
