Does your mother have curly hair?

My mom has pin straight hair. I get my curls from my Dad, but mine are tighter. He has botticelli type curls and I am a 3c with a little 3B.
Both of my parents have curly hair. My mom was a curly girl before I was. She was my inspiration. She has 3b/3c hair. She transitioned a few weeks ago without knowing that what it was.
Thick, coarse 3C hair

Literally everyone in my family has curly hair (on both sides). My Mom's hair is 3A I would say, but she doesn't take care of it. I had to teach myself how to take care of my hair thru trial and error (and then this site).
What's working this week:
Shower: Garnier 3x Nutrition shampoo 1x per week, cowash with Tres Semme Naturals, condition with
GF Sleek and Shine deep conditioner
Styling: Tres Semme Naturals as leave in, L'Oreal Melting gel and HE SMU raked in, LOOB and AG Re:Coil scrunched in, Jojoba Oil scrunched in when totally dry

Funny how few of us have the response of "Yes, my Mom as curly hair and she taught me to care for it."

my mom has very fine, thin 3a/b hair. she's always blowdrying it straight and then curling it with a curling iron. she colors it, too, so it's pretty damaged. i've been trying to get her to go curly for years. no luck....
3B corkscrews with scatterings of 3A & 3C.
Yes she has curly hair, and almost everybody in her family.
My father has straight hair, but his family is mostly curly too.
Both sides straighten their hair on a regular basis.
3a/b, CG mostly.
Mexico City.
My mom has jery curls(perm) so that doesn`t count .I never saw her natural hair.I saw a photo of her at the age of 18 and she had a big fro. There are allot of hair types that can do that so its hard to tell what her hair type is.She always said that her sisters had nice flowing long hair(what they like to call ''good hair'') and her hair was so rough.I told my mom that if her hair was taken care of good she wouldn`t had that problem. She wash her hair with a natural bar of soap only.My mom didn`t take good care of my hair either.

no... she has very fine thin straight blonde hair, all through my childhood she struggled to understand my hair, most of all that you can't brush curly hair when dry, and being biracial my hair was different to hers.

there are things she could do to hers I couldn't do to mine, which i think she still doesn't get now when i'm stressing over bad hair her reply is " why don't you run your fingers through it"
and once it got wet and dried into ringlets and spirals she used to take a brush to it and brush it into undefined Diana ross hair, I recently asked her why she did this she says she thought it looked better right ok.
Long thick curls, mix of 3b/3c
No curl, slight wave.
Every Thursday night my mother washes her hair (no conditioner) then uses spray gel and rolls her hair on plastic rollers. The next morning she goes under the bonnet dryer. After it is dry she brushes it out and teases it until it stands up like the bride of Frankenstein. She puts a french twist in the back, finger rolls the top back and puts a curl in front of each ear, then hairsprays the heck out of it! Everynight she rolls it in toilet paper and puts a silk bonnet over it. Believe it or not

She has worn it this way for over 35 years.

She used to straighten it, but now keeps it very short for the lowest possible maintenance. Hair is not a priority for her.

She was shocked when after a haircut once it seemed like it lost its curl overnight (as she tells it) Scary bedtime stories! She colors it at home, so I'm sure that doesn't help it much. I saw a pic of her as a young adult, and she had long straight hair (probably straightened.)

I talked to her about the CG routine a few times, and mentioned not combing/brushing (she was shocked by that one). I kind of backtracked and said well, at least not dry hair and not with a regular brush (I will often detangle with a wide-toothed comb). But I gave her Activate shampoo and conditioner for xmas (among other gifts) and she really seems to like them.

My dad has very straight hair and so do my brother and sister. I've often been told I look a lot like my mom. We work at the same university so we get a lot of comments about that

Yes, and I always tell her about new products and stuff. She's not as into it as I am, but she dabbles. We order Jessicurl together to save on shipping. Her hair isn't as curly as mine and it never frizzes on her, it's always just wavy and curly and nice. :x

My sisters have curly hair too, somewhere between me and mom's. They get a little more frizz sometimes. I have the most curl and have the most frizz potential.

My sisters recently both started getting haircuts from a stylist who knows how to handle curls, has curly hair herself. So lately we're all paying more attention and our hair's looking pretty good. Took us long enough! I'm the youngest and I'm 38.
Funny about the hair ironing. My Mom graduated HS in '68 and *everyone* had straight hair. It was just the thing to do was iron it. I'm surprised it didn't just snap off.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
