BRHG users what do you use instead????

I have got to find an alternative since the new one isnt going to work for me I am considering:
Sebastian high contrast or wet
chi infra
any drugstore alternative
pls rec some products Im dangerously LOW!!!!
Lots of Fine easily weighed down 3A curls
PJ currently loving Devacare one c, CEHT,& Durahold but still searching for HGs
Finally grew out my bad layers!!!
Just curious, why isn't it going to work for you?
I haven't found anything comparable to BRHG. I just bought some hi Contrast, and today (the first time I tried it), it just didn't work as well as BRHG for me. I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow, though. Have you tried Herbal Essences Set Me Up? It worked fairly well for me, just didn't have quite the staying power as BRHG. So far, though, I haven't found anything that does, which is too bad because BRHG doesn't even last the whole day for me

HG products: AG Recoil, DevaCurl Set It Free
The new formula is different and not as good as the original
once my stash runs out I need something similar. I tried SMU and it did nothing for me. I have long fine hair so I need LOTS of hold.

Is the new formula still CG?

I've found that I like Abba Weightless Gel better than BRHG. It still has hold but is easier to apply (for me).
Unfortunately, although the new BRHG isn't as good as the old one, I still haven't found anything that compares as far as hold and humidity-fighting are concerned. I like Abba Weightless too, it just doesn't work as well for me in the humidity.

Another poster here on nc.com (Sweet Pickles) loves the BRHG (old formula) & she said that the Chi Infra Gel is extremely close, so that's the one I'm going to try once I get low on my stash of BRHG. Why, oh why, do they have to change our HG formulations!?!?!?
Discovered nc.com in 09/2003

2b~~fine texture~~normal porosity (except for highlights, which are high)~~normal elasticity~~medium density

Shampoo: Still use sulfates, but only on roots
Rinse out: Deva One C, JC Too Shea, Original Sprouts Deep Conditioner
Curl Enhancers: KCCC; JC Rocking Ringlets, JC Spiralicious, & Confident Coils
Styler: BRHG (over any and all curl enhancers) - this is the one product that I never change - absolute HG!!

Just bumping for additional input. I haven't tried the new formula yet, and have 2 old bottles stashed. I hate the fact that they changed it, and would love to find something a bit cheaper/drugstore that measures up in the strong-hold department. I will try the new formula eventually-BRHG is the only thing that has allowed me to have good hair days in the summer down here, and I'm just kicking myself for not trying it sooner (out of years of accumulating gel-fear ), and not paying attention to how people on this board recommend it be used...TIA for additional replacement suggestions...

The new LA Looks Durahold (orange) is very much like Abba Weightless for a fraction of the price, so you might want to try that.
The Back To Nature Rosemary Mint Clean gel has the same exact ingredients as the old BRHG but obviously in different amounts, as it doesn't hold as well as the old BRHG. This is what I am using currently, though, with a little blob of the old BRHG from my stash to add a bit of holding power.

Man, I still can't believe they reformulated... every once in a while I'll fix my hair with just the old BRHG and it always looks fab. Why oh why???
Not all who wander are lost.

I'm still seeing the old BRHG on the shelves in my area (San Francisco). So if you happen to be in the Bay Area, keep looking, you might find some more and could stock up. I saw some this week at Albertson's/Lucky and at Rite-Aid. (I also saw Activate at Rite-Aid yesterday at the old price pre-absurdly-inflated, $6 or $7, too.)
I'm trying the LA Looks Durahold gel after the raves by TripleBlonde & others as well as the Biotera firm hold gel. If the LA Looks works as well as people here say, it's going to be a godsend for us who need a hard-hold gel, because it's incredibly cheeeeeeep!
2-something? Coarse, medium underneath. Mid-back. On CG since 5/9/07.
