I'm about to give it up. *pics*

Ok, I've been going curly (don't even KNOW if you can call my hair curly) for the past week. And I'm miserable I can't get it to *lay* right. It's short, it's stringy, it's just a plain mess.

I'm missing the sleek look of my flat ironed hair. But more than that I wish I just had beautiful waves or curls... I'm just wondering if that's off the plate for me. I can't tell what my hair is trying to do... if I need to change products or what's going on.

I had my hair cut last week, and cut off the inverted bob since it wouldn't hold the curl. I got some layers added.

Can anyone 'type' my hair? And also, recommend something I can do to make it more manageable? The pics make it look better than it does, actually, which isn't saying MUCH LOL!

(sorry I'm looking so goofy)

I know you don't want to hear this but I think your hair looks cute!! I am not a good hair typer, so I won't guess, but I want to give you some encouragement! It's really hard when you start wearing it curly, especially if you are used to the flatness of the flat iron. I'm sure someone will come along with more specific advice, but keep experimenting until you're happier. We all had to do it too! I don't give compliments if I don't mean it, so hang in there!
3B, I think w/very thick hair, shoulder length. Fall hair: Low Poo, TS, CK, Aloeba leave in, recoil or RR, plop, BRHG or SMU, no blow dry.

I'm going to agree with the above poster and say that your hair looks great! I love the fun curl you're getting. Maybe you can adjust your products to give you more of the curl that you want? What are you using now?
Well, i'm CO washing with Sally's honey and almond condish. I've been spraying in leave in conditioner every day "Curl it up", applying Biotera's Curl Creme, and today I used a new gel I bought called Down Under Natural's curl shaper gel...

I love your hair. The extra body that curls give does take some getting used to.
I happen to love your hair, especially the cut. Don't give up yet

I think your hair looks nice, and I'm sure it's just a shock with a new style that you will get used to. I am sure, you are being more hard on yourself than anyone else who sees you. You know, we are our own worst critic and all, blah blah.

Your hair sort of reminds me of mine, and at that length, I was a bit flustered at times. At a shorter length, I found that my curls were not long enough to make a complete rotation and ended up sticking out in places where I didn't want them to stick out. As my hair has grown longer, the curls now make several rotations and fall downward, rather than sticking out (well, most of the time!).

I'm not trying to indicate your hair looks bad or is poking out wildly, but just making an observation about curls & shorter hair. Curls and longer hair can sometimes be easier to deal with.

I have some pics in my fotki if you'd like to see. They start from almost 2 years ago when I cut my hair really short after damaging the crap out of it with thermal straightening.

I too wish I could have smooth sleek straight hair, but I know it's not going to happen. The process is so damaging to my hair that it's not worth it. And in the summer, sitting under a blowdryer is just not an option. Plus, I have no time to blow out my hair w/ two kids.

I go through phases of straightening, but the damage done to my hair makes me go back to wearing it natural.

None of us have the curly hair we WANT, it's about accepting the hair that we HAVE. Trying to get it to do what we want it to do is an exhausting process. If we can accept how it looks naturally, the process becomes easier.

Please excuse any typos. For the time being, we are blaming it on my computer.

I think you have great curls...and I'm not one to BS anyoine either. I don't think they are poofy or stringy (how can they be both?) I think if they were on my head, I might want them longer. But you're still looking good!

Brio!!

I just wanted to tell you that you have had the most *amazing* hair transformation I've seen yet I am thoroughly in awe. And yes, I see w/ the shorter hair what you were talking about... it is a lot like mine! I can't wait to grow mine out

I think that your hair is cute!! I suppose that one could say that you have skinny-ish curls as opposed to fat ones, but they look like shiny nice curls. They don't look stringy to me at all.

As Brio mentioned, you'll probably see more curl formation as you gain length.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

I agree - your curls look great! At least all your hair has some degree of nicely formed wave or curl! Sometimes part of my hair have minds of their own - grrr.

You look really cute but it will take some getting used to if you are coming from a super straight look.

I'm not a BS'er either I wouldn't have posted at all if I didn't think that you look great!
