This is an amazing thread it answers any question about ingredients! I was concerned about the polyquats in Mousse but a Low-Poo is fine to take care of that!!!! Happy reading everyone

if you read the curlchemist's article on amodimethicone you will see that while it bonds to the hair, it does not continue to build up.
i've been using one condition almost daily for 4 years and have not had a problem. i do use low poo maybe once every 10 days.
like everyone else here, i read things then look at my products and start to get concerned, then i realize, i've been using this product for a long time with GREAT results, so however these ingredients are interacting with each other, the water, and my hair, the bottom line is it's working.

Also, apologizes to anyone I may have told poly quats were scary. I read the whole thread again, they can be low-poo'd.
Sorry everyone I steered wrong!!!

Bumpity Bump.
I noticed some buildup on my hair recently and was trying to figure out what it was and whether or not a coco betanine low-poo would remove it. I found this thread to be quite helpful. The good stuff is on the first couple pages. Hope this helps someone else.

Hello, all,
This is my first post, but I’ve been reading the forums here for months, as I’ve taken one tentative step after another toward natural curliness after blow-drying my hair daily for decades. I’d judge my hair to have been 2A until I developed hypothyroidism – my hair fell out in great handfuls before I was correctly diagnosed and properly medicated, since which it first regrew wavier and more recently, downright curly. At the moment I’d tentatively classify it as combination 2c/3a, but as I’ve adopted more CG practices and followed them for a few weeks, my hair’s “evolution” seems to be accelerating, so who knows? Not me, as yet!
Anyway, I’ve been trying to avoid silicones as per Massey’s book and much advice on this board, so reading this thread has been very, very useful and helpful for me, but it didn’t address (as far as I could understand) Bis-Hydroxy/Methoxy Amodimethicone, which is an ingredient in the “Color Conditioning Treat” that Clairol includes with its Natural Instincts Hair Color (which I’ve been using quite successfully fro some time). I can’t tell whether the “Bis-Hydroxy/Methoxy” prefix signifies water solubility akin to the “PEG” prefix
I sympathize with the veterans of the board who quite understandably tire of answering the same newbie questions repeatedly (been there, done that myself, elsewhere, concerning other topics), so, before posting this question, I searched the forums and articles here as well as on the internet generally, but unfortunately to no avail.
So, if I want to go fully CG, do I need to toss the Color Conditioning Treat? I really *am* much, much happier with my hair since I’ve begun avoiding sulfates and silicones, so any informed advice would be most welcome, and thanks in advance for reading this.

Hi, and thanks for the reply, but you're apparently looking at something else if you're looking at a bottle, because Clairol doesn't sell this separately from the Natural Instincts Hair Color boxes -- I've checked.
What I'm referring to comes in a small tube (50 ml included in the newer boxes of Natural Instincts, 100 ml in the older ones still on some drugstore shelves). The ingredients are given on the coloring instructions insert as well as here: http://www.pgproductsafety.com/productsafety/msds/beauty_care/Hair_Color/Natural_Instincts_(4-10).pdf

One C used to have the a-cone but was reformulated a couple years ago (I think is a resurrected old thread).
As far as the clairol conditioner, I used one of my deep conditioners after I did at home color and my hair was fine. If you want to use the clairol conditioner, you don't need a sulfate shampoo to remove it from your hair- just a low poo that contains coco betaine.
