Cutting your own side swept bangs?

Is there anyway of doing this yourself? I've gotten pretty good at cutting my own hair and I was starting to think about bangs. I don't have any...has anyone ever been brave enough to attempt cutting their own?

When i had bangs back in the day i use to cut them myself or my mom cut them ( she cuts hair since she was 11yrs old , no kidding ). but back then it was just cut straight across bangs ( 1980-90s ) now theres side swept bangs which i think is way more cuter. i dont have bangs now but always wanted side swept, just not sure if its gonna turn out ok with my curls so ive so far chicken out on gettin them . lol

I cut my own bangs.. I'm still trying to master the perfect side swept length/technique that also compliments my face.

This is the type of style I would like!!! Do you think it can work on 3b hair? I will ask for the bangs to be past the eye. Any opinions on that?

Here's how I do sideswept bangs. I take the section of hair that I want to cut into bangs, and I pull it over to the opposite side that I want the bangs to fall. Then, while holding it off to the side I cut it. That way when I brush it over to the side I WANT it to fall on, it's cut so that the side over my eye is shorter, and it gets gradually longer at an angle.

I just did my daughters too, and they look so cute.

I used to cut my own when it was just straight across but I'm not game to do the sideswept ones myself! My hairdresser cuts them like babywavy described.
I just grab it and snip to the side I want bangs.

Babywavy's seems like its worth a try! Perhaps this would actually work out the way I've been trying to get it!

I wouldn't suggest it.

I read it in a magazine that it's a bad idea, and should be left to the professionals!

Also, any time I did my own bangs, or my mom did them for me I ended up with terrible, terrible hair.

It's pretty easy. Wet or dry. You just want to cut a little bit at a time so they're not too short.

From the inside out? I don't know what you mean, or why it would make a difference.

You don't really need to worry about where you start, or cutting one side shorter than the other. Pulling them to one side omits the need to do that b/c the part that is closer to your forehead is going to be the outside piece on the other side. Since you're pulling it to the opposite side that you plan on wearing it, the outside piece has farther to go and the part that will be over your eye has the shortest distance to go, so the way it ends up getting cut is the part over your eye is shorter, and the part closer to your ear is longer (when you have them on the side you plan on wearing it).

Does that make any sense at all?

So if you pull the section of hair off at an angle to the side - so it's say, even with your eye, and you cut it so the hair is even.
