Followers of the CG cult
I am curious of how many members of the CG cult (CG routine) there are on the board.
Also how you follow it;
"Full" CG - only herbal cleansers
"Modified" CG - SLS free shampoo now and then
"kinder" silicones - can get removed my SLS free shampoos or other non SLS free product (what ever that might be)

I only shampoo 1x/week or so and I do try to use milder shampoos but it's not CG because I've done this most of my life, long before there was a CG. And I like silicones.
But to each their own....

I actually have the feeling most are on a Modified CG. I am curious to see if it is true. Not that it matters. All just for fun.
Important to point out that what ever makes your hair feel and look good is the right thing for you.

I think I'm FULL CG..the only cones that I suppose I use is what's in OneCondition.. and I'm getting some Low Poo.. I avoid silicones as much as possible.. so I'd pick the Full CG & kinder silicones..

Modified CG & "kinder" silicones
I shampoo my scalp w/a gentle shampoo, use some cones.

I don't understand this either. There are things with the CG routine that I can't make sense of in my head.
In one way I would thing that Low-Poo is “full” CG when it is a Devachan product, but that would make all the SLS free shampoos Full CG right? So maybe we are all “full” CG as long as we go SLS free and avoid the hard to remove ‘cones.
In another way all of this doesn't matter, but I am one of them people that would like things to be "perfect" so I can be at peace with it, if that makes sense at all. It's like I want it to be logical and some what easy. CG is pretty complicated for me right now with all of the ingredients out there that it seems like LM didn't think of when she wrote the book, also the fact that she seems to have different approach now doesn't make it less clear to me.
Well, this got longer than I planned.

I picked "Full CG & kinder silicones". The only cones I use are the ones in devacurl one condition and I don't use it very often. Other than that, I stay away from all cones.

Good question..lol Well, I don't have my Low Poo yet..so I'm still Full CG..lol I would think that "maybe" since LP is Devachan it's still Full CG.. is it a shampoo or a "cleanser" kwim? I wasn't thinking it was a shampoo really.. but maybe i'm wrong..?? Anyone have a clue? Right now I use no shampoo...

I found it.. I miss read what she said..she's waiting for another book to be published next month and then she'll get that with the Curly Girl book.. prolly the first one.
This is what she said:
I haven't yet read Curly Girl (am waiting for another book that will be published next month so I can get them together from Amazon and get free delivery), so haven't (yet) abandoned shampoo. I wash my hair every 3 days, but only shampoo the roots. I use lots of conditioner, and leave it in while I wash myself in the shower, then rinse some of it out.
RATS! I thought it was coming out next month for a second there.. oh well.. we sit and wait...lol

Am I the only one who sees this thread, and every time thinks it basically assumes if you have *any* opinion on CG you're part of a cult?
I don't think that's what was intended by the original post at all, but it still makes my skin crawl.

I consider myself modified CG only because once in very blue moon I'll use a non-sulfate poo to scalp wash... I try to avoid silicones at all costs, but I still sometimes think I need an oomph from a mini-poo. I usually clarify by other means though. Can't hurt to make sure all the build up is gone though... I dunno.
However, I must say, I did this today and my hair reminds me of what it was like in the pre-CG days - more wavy than curly, sort of puffy and unmaneageable... I don't like it!! And back then, it was every 3 days or so... the waiting for my hair to "normalize" itself again. I'm so glad I'm off that boat.
Anyway - generally I'm a no-cone condition washer. It's a good life.
