Oh...I had done that too and in dark brown hair - not a good look.

Other than that - probably honey and the all in spray ingredients.

Monistat 2% for hair growth. I couldn't make myself do it long enough to see if it really works, however.

Guinness beer swiped from my BF at the time. If you try it just make sure it is at room temp and not fresh out of the fridge!

Oh yes, I've used honey too. It's too much a bother & sticky for me to mess with. I've also used coconut oil & olive oil. Not a pretty sight!

I use honey, but I don't consider that crazy. Wait... does that mean I'm crazy...?

I just don't use 'kitchen items' in my hair.

I've heard beer is good for clarifying/adding shine to lackluster locks. Yes? No? I've never tried it, personally. ;]

Just before logging on today I tried using the "warming" KY jelly -- I was heading for the KY thread to post and saw this one first. Other than that, just the usual NC stuff -- honey, ACV, salts, coconut milk, banana, avocado . . . When i was a kid my mom used to give me beer rinses now & then (I think it was supposed to make it shiny, like lemon or ACV), and once she tried to give me a raw egg treatment -- unfortunately, she used hot water to rinse with and I had scrambled egg in my hair for days.

Hmmm, I think at the time I thought the protein (hops?) in it would be good for my hair. I had always heard about people putting beer in their hair for the protein, and I had guinness on hand. I think it did make my hair shiny, but it was hard to work with, it was so runny. I maybe once put it in a glass and soaked my ends in it. Smelly beer smell in the shower also...I've sinced moved on to Ouidad's DT.

Oh I've had that happen, you gotta make sure that water is cold, I tried even just barely warm water and looking like I slept in my breakfast.

And on that note, before putting avocado in your hair, make sure it is fully pureed I was picking chunks out for days.

What's in the monostat that is supposed to be good for hair growth? And where did you learn about this --well, I guess on NC, but from whom?

Yesterday I thought KY jelly was as far as we could take this, but I guess I was wrong!

I tried beer a long time ago, can't remember how it turned out...can't have been very spectacular. I've used baby lotion, hand cream, and once I discovered a dirt-cheap suncream in a Pound shop that made my hair look awesome! This was many years ago, I've never found it since, but it probably had a pile of 'cones in anyhow!

nothing too crazy just the usual - avocado -tried to make a mask and was picking chunks of it out of my hair for a couple days despite washing my hair for about 25 minutes the day i tried it and again the following day.

Banana mixed with coconut milk and some oil, worked really well actually but people did look at me like i was nuts when they said "isn't it about time you threw out those bananas" and i jump up stopping them replying "no! they're for my hair"

Maple syrup - figured since honey works well i'd try maple syrup, only reason is that it smells good.

to all those who tried Kool aid , was that like a rinse/ tint and did it work??

Mine aren't so weird either. I think. Anyone else tried smoothing some Lubriderm lotion on their hair? I heard somewhere it helped with static in a pinch. Now I'm allergic/sensitive to it. It doesn't seem like such a great idea.

I also heard rubbing a fabric softener sheet on your head was supposed to help. Not sure if I ever tried that one, but again, I would never do it now (what the heck is in those things?) I use the fragrance free ones to avoid static in clothes and ward off any weird scents in the dryer (since it's a shared one with lots of other renters). They still have weird chemicals in them.

I also heard the thing about putting baby powder to help with oiliness. I think I tried a bit and on my dark hair, it looked awful! Looked like I my hair was turning white as a teenager. It did not disappear, either.

one day I was desperate and was in an experimental phase and I put fabric softener in my hair I immediately washed it out, though. I dunno what I was thinking.

I've done lotion for frizz in a pinch before.
