Before I knew my hair was curly-
Biolage Color Therapie Shampoo (I didn't even dye my hair, haha. I don't know why I had that.)

Before I knew my hair was curly but finally realized how bad sulfates were-
Organix Avacado Berry Shampoo

When I first figured out I was curly-
Carol's Daughter Hair Milk Curl Perfecting Shampoo
Tigi Curls Rock Amplifer

After I'd tried CG but it didn't work, so I decided to use sulfates and cones again-
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner
Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Mousse

Now, after going CG and only using all natural products- (LOVE THIS ROUTINE!!)
Beautiful Curls Shampoo for Curly to Kinky Hair
Beautiful Curls Leave-in for Wavy to Curly Hair
Beautiful Curls Defining Gel for Wavy to Curly Hair

I didn't even use conditioner until last summer! hahaha
I have learned a LOT since then

Shoot, before I went CG my hair method was to wash it with whatever I had (last products were Redkin Real Control) and throw it up in a bun or braid. I din't bother using stylers because I didn't know how. Sometimes I'd french braid my hair into pigtails, sleep on it, then have crimpy waves that went up in a pony the next day.

And now I'm freaking high maintenance as hell....

JustJessie, I also have a before/after pic that is dramatic!

Then:
Shampooed/Conditioned with the Suave Naturals line. (Once a week)

Did not apply a leave in, towel-dried my hair, and then used this HORRIBLE product called 'Liv' on my then almost dry hair; I brushed it through, then my mom would grease my scalp with the Indian Hemp grease. (The main ingredients of 'Liv' are beeswax and petrolatum; petrolatum was also the main ingredient in the Indian Hemp grease. Now that I think about it, my hair felt awful!)

I did all of that once a week, and would reapply the Liv or a body lotion (containing drying alcohols and mineral oil) each day, while ripping the brush through my dense curls (which at this point were just a huge mass of frizz).

Now:
I low-poo once a week with the Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo. I condition every three days with either Tresemme Naturals or GVPCB mixed with olive oil and/or honey.

I lightly rinse out the conditioner, then smooth the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie throughout my hair, and apply a light coat of EVOO to seal in moisture, and voilá! Shiny, frizz-free tresses!

Then:
Wash hair with whatever shampoo and conditioner were on sale and in the shower (usually dove or pantene)

Let hair air dry in a ponytail

Take it down, brush it, wonder why it was so poofy, and put it back up in a ponytail

Occasionally straighten it

Now: (mod CG)

Shampoo with a low poo

Condition with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration - icequeen method

Scrunch hair right after shower to get out water

Scrunch in a leave in conditioner

Scrunch in a mousse - Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Whipped Cream Mousse

Plop for 5-10 mins

I've always had curly hair. Though growing up my hair was a mess. Everyone said I had "kinky" hair. My mom didn't know how to fix it so it always went into a ponytail. I think I started to somewhat straighten it when I was in the 7th grade with one of those cheap straighteners with the interchangeable plates (the green and blue one). I started to wear it curly from around 10 grade and up, but I still straightened a good bit. After my junior and senior years in HS I wore it curly more often, and into my one year of college I had just about stopped straightening it all together. Mainly because of time.
I shampooed almost everyday followed by a conditioner. I used a lot of Suave captivating curls or the humectant poo and conditioner, herbal essence, tresemme, Pantene, and dove. I used a lot of suave, Aussie, frizz-ease, herbal essence, and just about anything packed full of cones for styling products. I hardly ever used a diffuser when I used my blow dryer. I admit I didn't know how to use one when I was younger. I started out raking the fingers of the diffuser down my hair while drying. I also would brush my hair after I washed it, applied mousse, blasted with a blow dryer until dry.

Now a days, since going CG, I use a diffuser when I blow dry and the pixie diffusing method. I no longer use shampoo and products with silicones. I do weekly PTs and DTs, never use a brush, and I try not to use too much heat when diffusing.

Pre-CG....I've always had very curly hair. It used to always feel coarse, dry and frizzy. I tried every product that I could get my handS on!! If it promised fabulous results for curly hair (or not), I tried it. I tried drugstore brands...salon brands.."natural" brands, etc. I used sulfate shampoo, tons of conditioner and lots of products. Never faithful to one brand or product. I can't say that I ever loved how my hair turned out. I'm sure I had better curl days, but was never really happy. I rarely ever sraitened my hair.

Fast forward...now CG for 5 years?
Hardly ever have a "bad" curly day . My hair is healthier than its ever been. I do try out different CG products now and again, but I'm pretty set on my staples and know what works for me.
I use:
Shampoo/soap bars 1-2 times a week
Co-wash or cleansing conditioner a couple times a week
Use a low poo with oil added on occasion

Use conditioner for RO and Leave in
Tresseme, GVPCB, suave, CK satin roots, plus whatever I can find on sale
*currently trying out Oyin honey hemp and hair dew*

Use a leave in and seal with oil (EVOO, coconut, babassu, EO's serum, camellia) and either FSG, BB's Mudd, CK, or mousse, only one "styling" product. I've even had success with using only conditioner in my hair.

I don't ever do a DT or PT, my hair is Happy.

Then:
Shampoo daily or every other day with whatever i felt like trying, usually what smelled best. Condition with the matching conditioner. Knew nothing about 'cones.
Blow fry, with no product
Flat iron, with no heat protectant
No wonder my hair sucked. And when I did try to wear it curly, I raked in VO5 mousse & half ass scrunched.

Now:
Low poo
Condition
Comb thru whatever I'm using when its really wet
Scrunch
Plop
Diffuse mostly, sometimes air dry

The no/low sulfates & no/minimal cones have made the biggest difference.

Haha, oh God... this is funny. Let's see. I shampoo'd and conditioned with Matrix Sleek Look, somehow I believed it could help straighten my hair out! Then I usually just let my hair dry, if I wanted it to be curly I used Garnier Fructis Wonder Waves Spray Gel or Paul Mitchell Round Trip. If I wanted it to be straight, I either went productless or used Paul Mitchell Super Skinny. Then I straightened it in to submission with my Chi :P
