Things to Do With Tea Tree Oil ?

My PJ keeps nagging me to buy some tea tree oil, and I think that I'll cave the next time I go to Trader Joe. I know it's good for dry/itchy scalp, but I'm not sure of the best ways to use it. I assume I can just mix a few drops into my washing CO, or my conditioning CO, or my leave-in CO, or in a DT, right?

What are your favorite ways to use tea tree oil?

This isn't hair related, but I put a dab on an emerging zit, and it took away the swelling quite nicely overnight. The smell of it almost knocked me over, though! Yucky.

I've no experience with using just TTO, but my body wash has it in it, and I just bought Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat shampoo and it's supposed to increase circulation in the scalp and aid with the itchy/flaky/dryness. I've only used it once but it felt SO GREAT on my scalp!

I make a scalp massage oil with it:
  • - jojoba base [1/4 oz dropper bottle] and then add
    - 10 drops TTO
    - 5 drops peppermint oil

Shake before using. Put one drop on each fingertip of one hand, touch all fingertips together to distribute, then massage into scalp. Feels wonderful.

TJ's also carries the jojoba oil, but you'll need to go to a whole foods store, coop or boutique for the other items.

I also used to use it on zits, although no longer, now that I have a Zeno, which I love.

Yup, works wonders on blemishes. But beware of using the essential oil directly. It's very drying - I know that's the point with blemishes, but if you put too much on it's dry to the point of producing flaky skin.

I bought a stick of tea try gel stick from The Body Shop, and I add essential oil to the gel as I use it.

What body wash is that? I used to buy one from Lush that had it in it, and they discontinued it!!

I use TTO for blemishes as well.

It's also great for ingrown hairs from waxing or shaving.

Just a generic one from Walmart/Target, it's "Body Essence Moisturizing Bath Gel with Tea Tree Oil". Comes in a pretty big container with a pump, and it's only around $4! :)

Or you can just rub it in your scalp.

All of the above (except I use a mix of grapeseed and jojoba oils with tea tree, peppermint and cedarwood oils for scalp massage) plus mixed into my foot lotion and also added to a 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar which can be used as a shower cleaner to inhibit mold and mildew.

Make sure to mix it with a carrier oil so you don't dry out your hair and scalp.
