natural black hair in corporate america

After reading this article, I was tempted to ask if folks wear natural hairstyles in corporate workplaces. Thoughts? Do you see afros/dreadlocks/etc at work? Do you wear them yourself?

Personally, I'm a 4a who's terrified to wear my hair in something other than my traditional pony-puff. There's one relaxed girl, and one long-ish afro wearer, but I don't think the folks here are picky about hairstyles, so long as they're neat and pulled together. At the same time, I never want to push it- my fro's maybe 10-12 inches long. It grows down and all, but it doesn't swing, shake or shine. I did want to ask all of you to get a better idea of what's out there.

That's a funny article. I'm in the corporate world; you can check out my hair in my fotki. I don't work on Wall Street or in a law firm and the work atmospher is business professional with business casual days. I think natural styles are fine as long as you look well-groomed and professional, whether they are twists, braids, twa's, textured fro's, puffs, or locs. Well-groomed is not code for non-kinky. I also think the contrast of say, a formal pin-stripe suit with somewhat wild hair is a good one.

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.
