Fine Haired 3As Who Use Creams or Leave-Ins
HELP!! I have not been able to use curl creams or leave-ins because they weigh my hair down. I've been doing ok with just gel, but lately since my hair has gotten so much longer and is pretty thick, I really need something to soften up the gel, especially since I need to use so much more now. I've tried leaving in some of my rinse out co, but my hair just doesn't like it unless I really rinse it all out.
Any of you fine haired curlies have any recommendations as to a good curl cream or leave-in that doesn't weigh you down & still keeps the volume? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!

For a leave-in, I like Jessicurl Aloeba. I always have good luck with Boots CC or AG re:coil for a cream styler. Hope that helps some!

Maybe I'll try re:coil again. I haven't used it since my hair was shorter and it just seemed to make my hair gunky no matter how little I used. It also seemed to build up on me pretty quick, too -- maybe I'll have better luck now. You have to order the Boots, right? Don't you get it at www.britsuperstore.com or something like that?

Rinse out conditioners weigh me down something fierce, I've given up on them completely. I love Sunsilk 24/7 creme deFrizz. I rake tiny bit through the length of my soaking wet hair, avoiding the roots. It detangles and controls frizz while being completely undetectable.
I think I've found my perfect routine for great waves and lovely volume and this product is definitely part of it.

Thanks, Doodles! Now, is it the pink or the white I should get? I can't remember which one was supposed to be better? I know I should do a search, but I'm zipping in and out of here while on the job [shame on me] and don't really have time.

Ooops I use the pink , but i wanna try the white sometime. I hear the white preforms just the same as the pink boots except the fragrance isnt so perfumey. If im correct banjo curlie ( i think thats her name ) sells the white boots on here.

Yeah, as far as I know they're pretty similar although I've only used the pink kind. tinycurlyd is right, banjocurly is the one who sells the white kind on here.

I have good luck with re:coil. I have also used some Alagio curl cream and Biotera has a curl cream that you can get at Sally's that is not bad - kinda perfumey though. You could also try putting some conditioner in as a leave in too. I will also use Jessicurls CCSS (that is what I used today).I always have to use a cream under my gel.

Thanks. I've tried leaving in conditioner as a leave-in and my hair hates it; I have to rinse every bit of it out. From what I remember, you have pretty fine hair, too, right? The creams don't take away your volume or weigh you down too much?

I cannot leave in any conditioner at all either! I always have a cream under my gel and for some reason even with my fine hair it works. The new hair cut photos in my fotki I have CK then re:coil under Aloe/LA Looks Curl gel. Today I used the Biotera curl cream under the Biotera gel with good results. I always start with curl keeper though (well as of this week because I had run out of the CK and finally repurchased after about 3 months-I love the CK)

Man, I am so brain dead lately. I have CK and totally forgot about it. I'll have to pull that out again. Do you find the creams really help alleviate the crunch?

For me they dont alleviate the crunch but they make it easier to get the crunch out and when it's out my hair is very soft. I have not found a gel that does not give me crunch no matter what and if it has too much hold my hair gets stringy (BRHG for instance-I cannot use on it's own). So for me the cream under the gel works.

Yeah, I can't use the BRHG on its own, either. I did have a really good day yesterday using the AWG for the first time in a long time. Less crunch for me than other gels I've been using -- maybe because it's creamier or maybe because I just don't tend to use quite as much. I even have good second day hair today -- just spritzed with water & scrunched a little -- not as much spiralling, but still good. Seems like everytime I think I have it down pat, I have to start experimenting again!

I have baby fine hair.
My two favorite products (which I usually use by themselves or with just a little HE spray gel over if I'm diffusing) are Re:Coil and Regis Curl Lock Cream. The Regis has a cone. I use about a dime-sized amount of either.

I have had good results with GF Curl & Shine leave-in. It's pretty creamy, but doesn't seem to weigh me down. I'm also trying Oyin Greg Juice for the first time today, and so far so good.
You can buy pink boots from member maddeleine4. Just send her a PM. It'll be much cheaper than getting it shipped from the UK.
