OK to use Oil or DT after hair coloring ?

I know you're supposed to avoid certain products after you color your hair, but I can't find the info on the hair coloring forum. My hair and scalp feel really dry and I want to do a deep treatment for my hair and maybe some jojoba/tea tree oil on my scalp tonight. Is this OK?

I know that glycerin is out for a few days after color -- what else should I avoid? I can't wait to get some CO and other good stuff into my hair!

Washing COs: VO5 Blackberry, Suave Cherry
Detangle and leave-in: Sally's GVP Conditioning Balm -- I found my HG CO!
Seal with camellia oil
Leave-in: Aura cherry almond
Gels: Homemade FSG, Eco-styler
Plus: SOTC or smooth with camellia oil, JC Nourish & Shine
Homemade food-based DTs
RC color
Some DT's are fine to do after coloring, but oils pull the color out of your hair. If you want your color to last at all, you should keep away from the oils.

Please excuse any typos. For the time being, we are blaming it on my computer.
How does this sound -- I was going to use my homemade DT which is coconut milk, avocado, banana, honey, and olive oil. Can I use it if I leave out the olive oil, or are the oils in the milk & the avo too much?
I wonder if there's anything else I can use on my scalp that'll help it feel less fried.
How long do you think I need to avoid the oils?
Thanks for the reply.

I use Robert Craig permanent color which is rather finicky. And I don't use oil or DT after coloring. I try not to wash for 2 days either. Seemed to work. After that, I use what I want; a lot of my products contain oils and butters.

Hear that crash? It's me falling off the CG wagon.
I don't get my hair wet at all for the first 48 hours, and I avoid oils for a week. I do a DT after 1 week. I use a demi red, so I hate to lose the color more quickly than I alreayd would.

Arggh!! What a drag. I had my best hair ever this past week after my DT, and now after the dye and the 'poo and all the combing & smoothing my stylist did (she's not exactly curly/wavy-savvy), my hair looks like its old pre-CG self -- mostly straight poofy straw. Plus my head itches.

How about this -- can I mist hair with some water & a little CO? Could I use some aloe vera gel for scrunching? What about rubbing some aloe gel into my scalp? After two days, could I use the coconut-avocado stuff?

SuburbanBushBabe, how long do you wait before doing a DT or using any oils again?

I already blended up a big batch of my DT -- I guess it's going in the freezer -- unless I eat it all first -- it's delicious!

The olive oil, and the oils in the milk will pull the color out. And that will happen pretty much anytime through the life of the color.

Truthfully, the molecules of the oil are too large for your hair to absorb anyway, so it really wouldn't do much but sit on the outside layer or your hair and make if feel soft.

Jessicurl WDT or Too Shea is good to use while coloring.
