Wow, I can definitely relate! I spent so many years like that. I can think of so many times that I was freaking out because I might have gotten my perfectly straightened hair wet (think hot tub!)

I do feel so much freedom now. My curly hair takes work, but a least I don't freak out if it rains, or someone splashes me in the pool!

Thanks for sharing the article, it really hit home. )

From the article-

However, never ever, ever use a scrunchie or a banana clip -- those are just plain ugly and should be burnt.
Man, I would give anything for banana clips to come back into style. It was so easy and curly hair rocked in a banana clip.

Wow! What a great great article! I was guilty myself of doing the same as well. And really all it did was bring unnecessary stress on myself. My hair never looked great when I was straightening it because it didn't WANT to be straight. It really was a chore for me. My hair, at the time, was all one length and super thick. I had to wash it at night so it would be dry in the morning so I could straighten it. It still looked puffy after I straightened it and so I would jus throw it back into a ponytail. And I hated it. I discovered for me, that going curly was less work. No, it is still not wash and go hair, but I have found a routine that works for me. And I am actually happy. Who cares if it is NOT perfect? Is ANYBODY's hair really perfect? No. I've got hair that wants to wave and curl. Is that a crime? No. It's just how my hair wants to be. That article really shows how ridiculous living that life can be. I'm glad that I was able to escape that thanks to a great hairstylist and NaturallyCurly.com It's always nice to see an article reinforcing this when most articles today are all about how to get that great blowout. Blowouts are overrated.

haha that sounds like me whenever i do get a blowout, which is why i reserve those for only december - march. life is so much easier with curls. although, if rain hits them, blah, it's over.

I'm not gonna lie, I do sometimes still miss my long, straightened hair:

But not having to blow-dry/flatiron for 30-45 minutes every day and then panic in the rain is pretty nice, too.

OMG I hated banana clips, my hair would wrap around it and get huge massive tangles and it felt like my mom was ripping half my hair out every times she took it out.
