Default Help, hair looks and feels like crap

My hair was THE BEST it's ever been last week. I've been CG three months and hair was getting steadily better and after some recent DTs had made huge strides! Then I had my roots done on Thursday. As advised here, I waited til today to CO-wash and condition and style. It feels terrible -- about the way it felt before I went CG and had poofy frizzy dull straw hair from all the SLS and heavy protein stuff I'd been using.
Am I looking at another three-month recovery after just *root* coloring?? What do you do after coloring to help get your hair back in shape? I'm holding off on doing any DTs for a few more days (as advised). And some folks say I shouldn't use any oils even then because it'll pull out my color. It's so frustrating because I was so happy with my hair last week. Any advice appreciated cuz I'm bummed!

I had that happen after my first color after going CG too. Last time I didn't shampoo to get the color out, but rinsed like a maniac and co-washed twice. Afterwards my hair felt just as it did before, soft and healthy. That said, I don't technically *color* my hair, I highlight it, so there's no risk of stripping the color. I don't know what immediate co-washes would do to freshly colored hair.

If you just colored your roots you can do a deep treatment on the ends. Just dont get it on the roots. I do that all the time after coloring my roots. Sometimes I put it up in a high pony tail and apply it to the ends that way overnight.
