How humid is the Bay (SF) area?

I'm going out to the San Francisco Bay area for surgery in one week and am wondering whether to pack my 'humid routine' hair products or the 'dry heat' products? I know I am silly to be worrying about my hair but oh well...

Both!

In San Francisco proper, we are usually quite damp. But we are having a nice sunny warm spell -- which could be over at any time and turn into relentless summer fog. Today it's nice & sunny and humidity is at 53%. However, we truly have microclimates all over town. Plus, if you'll be going outside of the city, either to the north, east, or south, you'll find much warmer and dryer weather -- only 20 minutes away. So it's very hard to say, really. Another thing to prepare for is the wind in S.F. -- yesterday was gorgeous, but about 4:30 there were very strong winds that turned my hair into a total rat's nest.

As RozettaStone said, SF the city is actually quite damp (usually, anyway), but the weather really differs depending on where you are in the Bay Area. I'm in the South Bay, and inland at that, so it's fairly dry here, although you'd think by my hair that it's humid

. I suppose it's far less humid than, say, Seattle or Houston or Miami, but I would say that it couldn't hurt to pack the frizz-fighting styling aids. Goodness knows I make full use of them!!

Yup, here we are just a few hours later, blue skies have vanished, and we are socked in with fog and wind. The humidity is now up to 73% (and I know that CelticRedCurls would want to know the dewpoint, which is up from 54 to 59 F).

Just down in Palo Alto -- maybe 35 miles south? -- humidity is at 59%, dewpoint at 58 F.
