POLL: How often do you straighten?
Just curious to find out how often you curlies straighten your hair. I find that Some months I love straight hair and other months I embrace my natural curls. It can depend on the weather, my mood, or on how many bad curl days I've had in a row.
Oops forgot to add the option for 'Never'... sorry.

Once every 1-2 months, and it can last a week if I'm careful, esp. in winter. I voted for every now and then.

I think I've straightened 3 or 4 times in almost the past year. The last time was probably right around New Year's.
I've banned myself from the heat stylers now. Last blowdry was around New Year's, last cruling (I mean curling) iron was before September, and last straightening iron was around Thanksgiving '03. Considering I used to refuse to leave the house without perfect stick straight hair (blowdry then curling iron... later just blowdry), I'm very proud of myself.
I'm not against the idea entirely, I'm just trying to get healthy natural hair again. No more dye, no more heat until I grow all the damage off.

I also put every now and again. I straighten every 2-3 months to track growth and to trim my ends. I usually keep it straight for about a week, maybe two if I keep it wrapped.

I put rarely since you forgot never, but I never straighten my hair. It takes one time straightening (even with heat protection products) for my hair to get split ends terribly.

I voted rarely and when I say rarely, I mean I've straightened 3, maybe 4 times ever. Even when I try I just end up with slight waves because I get tired of doing it before it's completely dry.

I usually do once a week or so. My hair has really nice soft curls after the first wash after straight hair. I have to wash every two days otherwise it gets greasy, so no two week hair for me.

in August.

About once every 3 months or longer, so it's every now & then, & I can let it be for 3-5 days.

guess im the rebel on this thread.....i straighten about once a week. but i leave it straight for 2-3 days. the rest of the week its usually curly or in a braid. im sorry i just love how smooth and low maintainance straight hair is not to mention that it gives my bf an incentive to play with it altho he says he completely prefers my curly hair.....boo men

Never. I straightened it every day back in high school, got tired of waking up early to blow it out every day around my second semester of college, and haven't straightened it since. Sometimes I loosen my curls a little bit by applying products to wet hair and twisting it up in a claw (this gives me loose waves), but I never completely straighten it.

Never! All that effort so I can look more like those little @$%*$s who teased me about my curls in grade school? I don't think so. I wouldn't be me .

I probably would more often, but it just seems pointless. My curls are too strong to get completely out, and I've got too much hair so it still seems poofy and triangle-shaped. Not worth the effort for me. I only do it once or twice a year, and that's usually enough to remind me why I don't do it more often.

I chose rarely, but only because "never" wasn't an option. :-)

I've been straightening mine a lot lately (read -- wrapping when wet, not blowdrying or ironing) because it's getting too long to do much but wave and I like it long. I also like to give it a break from scrunching and all the product I need to use when it is curly. I am really tired of the scrunched look. It looks so 80s to me.
Does it stay pin straight? of course not. But the longer it is the straighter it is, and without the heat it is pretty frizz free.
Sometimes I add smooth curls with rollers or pincurls.

i said half the time since i normally alternate w/ a week of curlyness & then a week of straight hair. If i straighten my hair, i normally don't wash it for the rest of the week. Its fun having people wonder what your hair looks like naturally
