New haircut + DT + first time with Biotera Curl Creme =

Craziest gigantic clumps ever!!

I got my shoulder-length haircut two days ago, with the bottom a bit longer so I can still make a high ponytail. The cut looks fantastic straightened - but of course I was impatient to see how it looks curly. So while my family was off at a baseball game last night, I shampooed twice with Suave's clarifying shampoo, whipped up a mixture of yogurt and honey for my DT, applied it and wrapped my head in plastic wrap. Then I cleaned up the unholy mess I made of the kitchen doing this step! Boy am I glad my family wasn't home.

I let my hair hang out in its DT for what I estimate to be around an hour and three quarters, then I rinsed it out, used just a touch of TJ's nourish shampoo on the roots in strategic places and conditioned with Tigi Bed Head Moisture Maniac conditioner. After that, I scrunched in copious amounts of Biotera curl creme as per the advice of curlies on this site, swallowing my fears of producty hair as I did.

I scrunched out some water with my imitation curlease and plopped into another one. Then when that felt saturated after an hour or two, I plopped into a new dry one and slept with it that way. When I woke up, skipping past the part where family members made irksome comments, I unplopped and saw the biggest clumps EVER to grow from my head, including one big chunky sausage curl on each side of my head.

My mom said it looked like I'd slept the night in curlers, the ginormous really loose spirals like slightly twisted waves and the big chunky sausage curls. Sure, the entire bottom layer was nearly stick straight, but this was a good hair day for sure.

Since I'm not going anywhere today I just put the top happy curly layer in a claw clip to keep it out of my face and jumped right on NC.com to report that I absolutely love my shoulder-length hair and that Biotera sure is clump-inducing for me!
OMG, LOOK!!

...It's a siggie.
Great results!

What do you think did it the DT, the creme itself, or just using tons of product (how much in total do you estimate you used)? I might try the same with their gel (not sure if that is clump-inducing as well) since I've had the worst luck with most of the cremes I've tried.

I think that it was definitely the DT that gave me the base of shiny happy hair, but most likely the curl creme that added the huge clumps.

I hope the gel works well for you! I'd meant to buy that as well the last time I was at Sally's, but wound up picking up the glaze instead. :P
