New here, have a question...

Hi All,

I am new here and have been reading your forum for the last couple of hours.

For those CG veterans out there, what are the most popular/best brands or product lines? I am pretty sure I am a 3A. I suffer from product build-up, get greasy stuff under my fingernails if I scratch my scalp, and frizzies during humid weather. I am a bit overwhelmed by all the choices available and I don't know exactly where to start.

Thanks so much!

I'm not a veteran but I started out using Jessicurl products. It's very moisturizing for 3a's and although it can be pricey I recommend getting the trial pack which you can order on her site.

http://www.jessicurl.com/Trial-Packs...tles-c-15.html or you can order full size trial packs here in the CurlMart.

Many people also have good experiences with the DevaCurl line, Kinky Curly line aand a few others.
Mostly people are in two camps though, Jessicurl or DevaCurl.
If you are browsing peoples pic sites and like the way their hair looks and it's similar to your own, then check out the signature line for the prods that they use. For example...my own. I'm a 3a and I like the Biotera/Aura lines avail at Sally's. I like Jessicurl stuff too, whenI can afford it.

echokitten,

do you have a picture posted? i just noticed in your sig you say you are a 3A on top and a 3B underneath. I hadn't even thought of underneath, but I am much more course and curly underneath as well!

yep, click on the www button on the bottom of my sig line. Those are on just about everyone's sig line. It should take you directly to the pics. My password is coffeecurls. Most passwords are in peoples sig lines if they allow public viewing.

i think your hair is a bit curlier than mine, but i am close behind you. btw, your hair is very pretty. :-)

living in southern california is a bonus, because the dry weather pretty much keeps the frizzies at bay, but when i travel back east to visit my parents, my hair is MUCH curlier and frizzy.

here is a picture of me and my dog, sammy from my flickr site. my head is partially blocked by sammy, but you can get the idea.

Everyone's hair responds a bit differentlyto products. Saying that, I am a 3b who uses the devacurl line. I used to use Jessicurl which i s very moisturizing, but it isn't available off line and the curl isn't as tight with me. In NYC you can get deva in a lot of places although it is cheapest on line at cosmeticmagic.com with freeshipping over $35. I would advise just going into a hair store out there and see if they have it and try the conditioner. It is the best of the products, one c. Good luck.
Hair type, thin, 3b, past my shoulders always looking for length. Use jessicurl hair cleansing cream, devacurl one c, angel, set it free, Always see a deva trained stylist for cut and Aveda Institute for color.

Although I now use a different line, I agree that Deva and Jessicurl are probably the two most popular lines and are a good place to start looking for products that work for you.

The fact that both offer trial sizes is nice too.

Here's Devas kit.

Here's Jessicurls kit from CurlMart, and samples and kits from her own website.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
