help me?

after fighting my hair for years I have decided that it is easier and looks better, to just let my hair do what it wants. so i am pretty new to looking after curly hair. I am not sure what type of hair I have could someone help me? my hair is thick, but I get it thinned because it gives me headaches.

sorry it has taken me so long to respond, school has kept me super busy!
I'm not realy familiar with the cg routine, from what I understand it is shampooing? I hardly ever shampoo as it is once a week max.
