Thanks for posting this Marinacurlz. I've been trying to find info re: this ingredient. I did a search on NC.com and found a post where someone stated this was similar to a silicone. But according to the info on that site you posted Quat 87 is water soluble. So I don't know why it made my hair feel coated and waxy after a couple of weeks of using it. The only way I can describe it is that if felt just like when I used products with silicones, very smooth and slick but coated. I even had trouble getting it out with a non-sulfate shampoo and ended up using a sulfate. Maybe I'm just very prone to buildup.
