HOW HAVING CURLY HAIR ACTUALLY SAVED MY LIFE, TRUE STORY.
Hi girls!
It's Saturday night! It's time to have some fun. I've been reading for the past several days everyone's stories about how they have re-arranged their lives to accommodate and/or hide their curly hair so no one would really know their true selves. Well I have the following story from my senior year in high in which having curly hair actually saved my life. I thought maybe there might be others out there with similar stories. So here's mine:
I grew up in Loveland, OH, a little town outside of Cincinnati, OH. During my senior year in high school, there was a rumor that there was an "Albino Farm" in the neighboring city, Indian Hill. This "Albino Farm" was rumored to have albino horses, albino dogs, ---all sorts of albino animals and was supposedly owned by an albino person. One rainy Saturday night I got a call from one of my best friends, Sherry. Sherry was the class president and valedictorian of our class. She was calling to see if I wanted to go out with a whole group of other seniors to check out the "Albino Farm." Everyone going was part of the "in-crowd." Cheerleaders, football players, class officers, etc. They were all pretty good kids and really not known to get into trouble. I really wanted to be a part of that crowd; however, I had just gotten my hair cut (that day) into a PERFECT "Dorothy Hammell" cut and it was beautifully STRAIGHT. I didn't dare set foot outside my door on a night such as that.
Anyway, I passed on the offer and boy, that was one of the best decisions of my life. Turned out the "Albino Farm" was Marge Schott's house. (For those of you not familiar with who Marge Schott is --she was from a very wealthy Cincinnati family and was the owner of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team until her death in 2004.) As it turns out, my friends got out to her house and were met (either by Marge personally or her security persons- I really don't know) with a shotgun welcome. In their panic, they did donuts in her front yard and got stuck in the mud. They were all carted down to the Indian Hill Police Station and booked. The only reason they got off was because the mayor of Loveland's son was amongst them and he was able to pull some strings. If I had been with them on that fateful night I would not be alive today as MY FATHER WOULD HAVE KILLED ME, but fortunately I chose not to go because of MY NATURALLY CURLY HAIR!
TRUE STORY.

Yeah, I'm glad you didn't go too. Can you imagine your mug shot after the rain and humidity hit your hair? Maybe you hair would've been "scared-straight" by your father?
Great story!

Well i can't say i have a story that good but I could say:
HOW MY CURLY HAIR MADE MY HUSBAND PULL A GROIN MUSCLE - don't get any nasty ideas he slipped in the shower because it was so slick from all my products
or
HOW HAVING CURLY HAIR IS MAKING MY BUTT AND HIPS SMALLER - i get so bored when i am diffusing that i have been doing exercises while diffuse - i think i have actually toned up a bit

I catered a party at her sister's home once. Marge was delightful
For example- I was passing hors d'oeuvres and she would stop me and say in the most brash way
MARGE: "what is that?!"
ME: "hearts of endive topped with alaskan crab salad"
MARGE: "I'm gonna feed that to my dog"
.....and she would grab the food and dump it on the ground for Schotzy or whatever her St. Bernard's name is.
I really wouldn't doubt that it was her that pulled a shotgun on your friends.

I remember Shotzy. I couldn't remember though if he were a St. Bernard or a Great Pyranese. I just remember him being BIG. I thought maybe if he were a Great Pyranese that would explain the Albino thing.
It was probably her caretaker/security/gardener ... whatever that came out but it scared everyone pretty bad.
My mom came home from bridge club with all the details and I kept my mouth shut about being invited to go.
