Removing Oils??

For those that use oils in their hair (whether a store bought oil blend or homemade), what do you use to remove it? I know that some oils are supposed to soften the hair, but how do you remove the build up?

I would think shampooing them out be counter-productive...I mean, using the oils to soften then turning around and scrubbing your hair to strip them out?

I have found that when I have overdosed on oils, a co wash with a condish designed for oily hair works well. Or I have even had good luck with Suave Daily Clarifying CO.
If the OD(meaning too greasy) isn't too bad, just a couple of days with waterwashing only and no leave in work ok.

Very few oils actually build up. Mineral oil and castor oil do, but coconut or jojoba oils (which people commonly use) should come out easily with just a co-wash. Just make sure you don't use oils that are too heavy for your hair, and you should be fine.

I've just discovered that my hair seems to love oil, even though I'm a wavy. I've been using quite a lot lately and I'm not having build-up problems yet. I CO wash only. Every now & then I do an ACV rinse or a lemon juice rinse, and that seems to work for me.
FYI, I'm using jojoba oil in my hair every day, I'm using the SheaMoisture shea butter leave-in CO most days (very rich stuff), and I do a DT every week or two that has avocado, coconut milk, and olive oil in it. Could be that my hair is just fried, and I've only been CG for a few months, but it seems to keep drinking up whatever I feed it. Regular conditioners don't seem to do much for my hair, and I'm finally getting some relief from my perpetual crown & surface frizz.
Have you tried oils & experienced buildup?

I haven't tried oils yet....I want to though. I am just looking for the right blend. And at press time, I am not sure what that will be!!! I have been reading on the forums about using oils and which ones to use.

When I think of oil...an image of an oil spill comes to mind with the oil sitting on top of the water! I assumed that they wouldn't come out with just a co-wash or water rinse.

I will try some and post my results. I am curious what affect they will have on my hair.

Thanks for the replies!
