One curlies "eeeww" is another's HG. And I really wanted to like the leave in because of all the great reviews. I gave it to my mom and it makes her hair so gorgeous. I need to figure out what to do with all the rest of my NG aloe conditioners now.
Aww man, I still cant figure out how to do the quotes thing right....

Something that did work really well for me was this sea salt spray from AVON, it smelled WONDERFUL and all I had to do was spray it in, nothing else and got amazing spiral curls. I wish I could find that stuff again!

The only product that I can think of is LA Looks gel. I get flaky white stuff and my forhead itches.
Other than that, I haven't really had bad experiences with anything. When I use to use the John Frieda Frizz Eaze stuff I loved it for straightening my hair. It left it smooth, shiny and straight.

Abba True Curls line. The worst smelling stuff I've ever used. A major headache from the smell and bad hair!

B'Leave in--it was what made me realize that my hair doesn't do well with proteins---it felt like straw!
The Jessicurl styling line made my hair look terrible--stringy and limp. I do love the Hair Cleansing Cream and Conditioners, though.
I know there are more....I'll have to think some more and check back in. It's been awhile since I bought new stuff--I finally have a routine that works, so i've been content with my hair lately!

Aussie Mega Conditioner - It worked well for me the first few times, but after awhile my hair began feeling weighed down and lost its sheen. Must have been the silicones, though generally my hair responds well to products with lotsa cones.
Another one is a leave-in conditioner from Nick Chavez (I don't remember the name but it's thick something) - My mom loaned me this when I was complaining about my dry ends. This stuff made my hair worse. As soon as I applied it, my hair absorbed it and began to feel and look drier and coated-like almost immediately.

Frizz-ease serum was the first curly hair product I ever tried and it had me convinced I had weird hair because mine ended up looking limp and greasy.
I did use the spray and the cream and they were okay, but the mousse I loved for a few weeks until my scalp and neck broke out is extremely itchy red spots. I went to the doctors convinced I had a nasty disease, and he said it was dermatitis.
Boots basics gel, which I bought the first time I tried CG. The first and only time I used it was before I was taking my dds to their first visit to a posh restaurant. I spent the whole meal with what seemed like a major attack of hayfever thanks to the nasty fragrance!

There have been a lot of products that didn't work for me, but here are some of the worst (most of these had proteins, silicones, and/or other non-CG ingredients):
Conditioner:
L'Oreal Smooth Intense for Medium Hair
L'Oreal Smooth Intense for Thick Hair
Grassroots "In Perfect Condition" Deeply Moisturizing Conditioner
Mane 'n Tail Conditioner (when I didn't use the lemon-aid rinse before each use)
Alberto VO5 Moisture Milks
Aubrey Organics Rosa Mosqueta Conditioner
Aubrey Organics GPB Conditioner
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle DEEEEP
Gel:
Dove Define and Shine Gel
Pantene Smoothing Gel (the green one)
Creams/Leave-ins:
Pantene Extra Liso Comb-in Creme
Alberto VO5 Frizz Defense!
Grassroots
Aussie Hair Insurance
Dove Anti-Frizz Cream
John Frieda Extra Strength Anti-Frizz Serum
Hehe, quite a list...

I wish I'd seen your list before I tried the bolded - bleh. First I tried mixing it with some biotera curl creme and got cottage cheese; then I got rid of that and scrunched some of the gel in like any other product and my hair already looked frizzy and limp. It also felt even more coated than it tends to do with the biotera, and I'd bought the gel to get rid of some of that! I walked back to the Rite Aid and returned the nasty thing. Darn Dove!

Ugh! That's terrible! That gel was a disappointment for me when I used it pre-CG and thought that my hair was straight with a body wave or two. It did not control frizz well or add any shine. Gel is usually the best styling product for me, too.

The first gel I ever tried was L'oreal gel for curly hair medium hold, a really old version. I think got it from my olders sister. It smelled so bad, and it was yellow and gooey. Horrible! I also once purchased this frizz calming milk from L'oreal when I first started trying to wear my hair curly- I bet it was straight silicones. I knew about CG, but not about avoiding silicones. I am so glad I found this website.

Me too .... That was by far the worst line I have ever tried. My personal disaster was the spray on stuff that was supposed to block humidity. I swear it made my hair expand ... haystack is the perfect description.
The straightening products were no better.

KCCC!
I know a lot of curlies love this styling aid. I've tried a lot, but this was the worst. It looked as if I had gotten a Jerri Curl!

Abba True Curl line. The smell was absolutely awful. I had a headache all day smelling my hair and it looked as bad as it smelled!
