The WORST products you've ever used!

Like Tree1Likes

...What are they? We always have threads about HGs and favorites, but what did you hate?

Condish: I've tried so many, I don't even remember. I know that I really didn't like Mane 'N Tail Condish. It made my hair really gunky and weird. Samy Moist was awful too.
Cream: Tresemme Touchable Curls Milk (I don't even know what this was supposed to be...it barely did anything).
Gel: GF Hard Curls Gel. EW. My hair was SOOO frickin' sticky. Samy Get Curls Potion was the same way.

What about you guys? What are the worst product/s you've ever used?

CoN green, HE hello hydration, burt's bees super shiny condish, & KCCC.

Paves sulfate/fragrance free hair care line. it smelled horrible and the scent stayed on my hair all day and all night, and it made my hair feel like a brillo pad.
Oh boy, I guess I'll be first! I have color-treated hair, so this influences this list, I believe. I've learned not to stray too far with hair products, as I've found just a few that are cheap and I like.

Here's my list of worst:

Mane and Tail Conditioner for me too - for the same reason. Meanwhile a girlfriend of mine swore by this as the HG and be-all of all hair conditioners. Total waste on money. Maybe this works on people who have VERY coarse hair, but not for anyone else.
Aubrey Organics JAY Shampoo(really wanted to like this as I was trying to go all natural, but it left my hair dry, coated, greasy at the same time, and I have dry hair to start with, plus my hair just didn't feel clean to boot!)
Aubrey Organics GPB Conditioner(similar complaints, dulled my hair, plus it didn't really condition either)
Avalon Organics Botanicals Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner - used to like this several years ago, but they CHANGED the formula-UGH! Left my scalp an itchy burn-y mess!
Any KMS product for curly hair - whole line stunk IMO. Left my hair feeling coated and dull, and limp, to boot.
Most beauty salon shampoos(with only one exception) that the cutters shampoo my hair with - they all leave my hair not feeling clean, likely because they only lather up once, whereas I lather up twice(well, I only shampoo once or maybe twice a week).

I have a feeling this is going to be kinda a fun thread!

I hated Mane 'N Tail Co, too. Very sticky and my hair looked greasy.

Before I went CG, I tried Frizz Ease's extra strength serum and yucko---again very greasy stringy hair and that product was loaded with cones! No wonder my hair hated it!

Not too long ago I tried J/A/S/O/N 's aloe and seaweed or something poo and co. I hated the smell--kinda medicine-ish and my hair felt rough and frizzy almost like I needed to rinse it again. Looked at the label and realized it had bad cones. If I remember correctly, it had cyclopentisiloxane!

I'm sure I wiil think of more bad products later...

Alberto VO5 conditioners. They were the first I used to co-wash, based on a recommendation from another curly. The proteins were way too much for my hair. Unfortunately, it took me a month to figure that out. I thought I was going through the normal adjustment from shampooing every day.
Couple of inches past shoulder length 3A. Shampoo every 3rd or 4th day w/ baby shampoo; Tigi Fashionista conditioner; back to Condition 3-in-1 mousse . Alternate days water rinse, conditioner and mousse.
Strictly Curls by Marc Anthony shampoo and condish. That stuff was horrible. I used it once, hated it so much that I threw it away. I didn't even want to put it up on swap because I didn't want anyone else to use it either. Yuck! Also Garnier Fructis shampoo and condish I think in the color treated type (it's been awhile). That was also yucky stuff.
Hair Type: mix of 3's, growing out an angled bob, color-treated red.
Current products: GVP conditioning balm for co-wash and leave in, Curl Junkie Curls in a Bottle, Pattern Pusha and Garnier Anti-humidity hairspray

Easy -- Pureology Hydrating (haha) Shampoo & Conditioner.

I used this for ages before I went CG. I was told it would be wonderful for my "damaged" and color-treated hair, and I kept using it because I was suckered into buying the huge liter bottles. I was convinced that I just had "bad" and "damaged" hair that looked & felt like a parched haystack. I know several other women who got suckered into the liter bottles and who had the same haystack experience with it, too. (They really push this line at the Pure Beauty stores, which are all over my town.)

It is loaded with proteins, sulfates, and cones, and it made my hair AND my scalp miserable. To be fair, when I switched off with other highly recommended and expensive products (such as Bumble & Bumble), they weren't any better.

Funny, isn't it, that the FIRST TIME I started co-washing with cheapie VO5, my scalp & hair took an immediate turn for the better, and now that I've been using CG products and a lot of oils and other good natural stuff on my hair, it has become very soft and even shiny, and my stylist told me it was in excellent condition and not damaged.

I can't tell you enough how much I HATE Pureology.
2-something? Coarse, medium underneath. Mid-back. On CG since 5/9/07.

Plus: SOTC or smooth with camellia oil, JC Nourish & Shine
Homemade food-based DTs

Sorry that this stuff sucked so much though. Wait, so the salespeople at this Pure Beauty place kept pushing you to buy the liters?

Some Garnier curl cream. It gave me little product buildup/dandruff filled hair.

Deva's B'Leave-in. Crispity Crunchy from the first use. Ugh.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
Curlisto Control II Gel

I used it 2x and both times it RUINED my hair for the day- it was so bad that I could barely bring myself to leave the house looking like that. I could have poured liquid laundry detergent on my hair and gotten similar results.

Mop C-System curl creme (think that's what it's called). My hair looked foul, felt foul and smelt foul. Stringy, yucky mess.
I'm sure there's others, most gels are bad in my hair, but the Mop sticks in my mind - probably because it was pricy and I had to throw it away.

Deva's Mister-right. I don't know why but it always dries my hair out bad.
Curly Hair Solutions Shampoo & Conditioner - dry, dry, dry! And I am not prone to dryness at all, so it's pretty impressive how effectively it dried out my hair after only one use.

Got2B Curvascious shimmer gel - Blech, my hair just totally freaked out when I used it.

GF Soft Curl Cream - heavy, sticky, and just overall yucky-feeling

I'm sure there's more that I've blocked out of my mind from the trauma.
