Default GRRR...Hydrogenated Castor oil=bad?

If it wasn't already difficult trying to find protein free prods...I think My hair doesn't like Hydrog castor oil either. I have a couple of products that I use off and on trying to make them work and the common denomiator is Hydrog castor oil. My Oyin Shine and Define has is, La Bella Lot's o Curls has it and one other that I can't think of at the moment. I get similar results as if I'm using a protein product. Drier crunchies that I can't scrunch out.
Oh well...

Yeah it's like a waxy substance- not H2O soluble.

Yep, I can't just water wash whatever product it was out. I must co-wash and depending on how much I used sometimes I have to use HCC to get my scalp clean.
BTW, I think that other product I was trying to think of was the Jamaican Mango and Lime Lock gel.

me too - my hair goes limp and greasy looking with castor oil. And I didn't feel it was OUT til I used a pretty harsh sulfate shampoo.

Products with castor oil make my hair look and feel coarse. I think that's why LOOB doesn't work for me.

I can't use products with castor oil either. It makes my face break out! (although I'm not putting it on my face, but putting it on my hair does it.)

Lot's O Curls is CG friendly. But some people's hair reacts differently to certain ingredients. My hair can't take the castor oil in daily usage. I can use it occasionally but not daily. It builds up for me. But I also don't co-wash every day. Most days I just water wash.

I think that 2-3b curlies can't use castor oil, But 3c-4 can use it, I know some people on here use it with no problem.

Posting to add that the Jamaican Mango and Lime has NO castor oil in it. It was the LOOB I was thinking of, TY to whomever recognized that.

I love regular castor oil and have no problem washing it out. Thinking about buying the Jamaican Black Castor Oil as I heard it is thinner.

However, I recently purchased a product with hydrogenated castor oil as a major ingredient (John Masters Organics bourbon, etc. texturizer); and that stuff is quite thick and hard. I may exchange it.
