Deva Cut, What do I need to know - Finally posted pictures!!

Hello All

I'm finally getting my Deva cut tomorrow I am very excited and will admit nervous.

So I know what to expect from reading the book but what I don't know is should I go with product in my hair? How should I wear it? This is all new for me. I've never had a proper cut, they've always washed it for me first, cut it wet and that was it.

Any adive would be greatly appreciated

Go with your hair styled. Do whatever you would normally do to it. They need to see what your normal styling/curl pattern is so they know what curls to cut and how much, etc. Have fun!!!

Yep, go styled with products. Just be sure they'll be able to get their hands in there to cut (no stiff hair). Have fun!

Thanks for all the advice

I had my cut today. I was nervous and excited at the same time. She listened to all of my concerns which was important to me. My main one is that I don't wear my hair down because I hate having it in my face. There is a huge puff that hangs there and it drives me insane.

She first cut my hair dry. After my cut she poo'd me with Deva products. She then loaded my hair with other products and sat me under the dryer. I then came out and she added more product and then had to diffuse the bottom part of my hair.

I'm not too happy with all the product she put in my hair. Too much product makes my hair very dry looking.

I'm also not 100% sure I like the cut yet. The few people I have seen have said it looks really nice. She did keep the legnth but I'm not really sure that poof is gone yet by my face.

So I'm off to wash everything out and see what I can come up with. I'll post pictures tomorrow after I get to do it.

I did pick up some Deva sample products so we'll see how those work in my hair.

And on a side note, when I made this appt, I asked the girl how much a Deva cut would be. She said $50. They charged me $65 and wouldn't let me put the tip on my card either. That sort of pi&&ed me off but at that point there was nothing I could do.

So in short, the jury is still out

Ok, so I had the cut 2 weeks ago and I do like it, but I'm not sold 100%. I'm having more frizzies now then before. The stylist says it's new hair growing in. It can't be that, becauses it's just as long as the others. I haven't found the right mix for my hair yet, but I do like the Deva products.

My bday was this past weekend and I got a new Conair Ion hairdryer w/diffuser and a Corioliss iron for my hair. I have used both (only once and won't abuse them) and love them both.

So here are some pictures.

The night I found out about CG.

As I posted earlier, she put way too much product in my hair and I forgot to mention that as she was raking it through my hair, she tugged on the ends of my hair. It was like she was trying to pull my hair straight. I didn't take any pictures of how it looked after the cut. Here is what I did after I got all the product out and only used the Deva gel.

And this was a few days after the cut, and I had used the diffuser method I learned here, can't remember the name though

So I do think it does look better but still that frizz halo gets me. But it's a start

I never saw the update after the cut. I'm glad you updated with pics now! I think it made a difference in the curl, and the ends look much better. I do see a little halo frizz, but not a lot. Maybe you can try spritzing your hands with water and gently running them over the top layer of your hair after it's dry, it helps me. Your hair looks nice!

Halo frizz is the bane of my existance. lol... I think your hair looks quite lovely. Hope you can find some products to help tame the frizz. Have you tried the CK method shown in the video? There is a link somewhere in this section. I've done it twice (with no CK) and my hair looks good and low frizz.
3B with some 3a. Fell off but am now back on the CG bandwagon and looking for my HG products.
I think your hair looks much better - healthier, more defined curls and shiny! Congrats!!

Thanks for the compliments.

CurliLocks I didn't update right away because we've been super busy, and I forgot I did try the water over the top layer and it works until my hair is dry and then puff again. I've done it with the gel too w/no success.

CurlyQTPie Where can I find this video? I would love to check it out. I'm always up for new things.

I was reading the boards last night and I found Marybeth's flickr hair journey and I swear we are hair twins. From start to finish. So I'm going to try what she's doing and see if it works for me. I know no two heads of hair are identical, but she's the closest I've found so we shall see.

Oh - I like the gel-only pictures. The cut looks nice! That's about how mine looks and ITA about the "front poof" - it drives me nuts if I leave my hair down, I can't see a thing.

How long are your front layers now?
