Default How long can one deep condition?

I have the worst damaged hair possible. I have some Queen Helene cholesterol conditioner as well as fifty thousand other products. I'm thinking about leaving it in overnight with a shower cap.

Is this bad, or does it not matter at all?

I think that the QH has mineral oil or something else kinda bad in it, but I could be wrong. What are your other options, what else do you have? I usually use Jessicurl Weekly Deep Treatment overnight or sometimes I leave it in for 2 days. It depends of how busy I am. I use(d) the same stuff as a leave in because it makes my hair really soft. Kinda like a mini DT everyday.
Cincinnati Ohio>>>Coarse protein sensitive 3a, Jessicurl WDT as a leave in, Biotera gel, White Boots, PW= coffeecurls

I've used QH for years with no problem. I use sometimes use it as little as 5 minutes to 2 hours depending on my laziness quota of the day. I've never slept in deep conditioner though. I think one would only need to do that if their hair is severely damaged and they don't want to do a drastic trim or cut.
Coily and cute.

I don't think it would be harmful per se to leave a DT in your hair overnight but I just wonder if it really does that much more good??? (I really have no idea, just wondering out loud.) It would seem like it could only do so much and then, at some point, you're just keeping it coated & moist. But other curlies may say otherwise. I personally feel like 1 hour with heat does the same for me as sleeping in it but that's just me.

A lot of people on fotki/LHCF leave on conditioner on their length overnight or for days at a time. They cover it with a plastic bag or cap, and hide it with a scarf or faux ponytail.

Depending on how absorbent your hair is, you may benefit from more time. For example, I have low porosity hair and it takes a lot longer for my hair to absorb stuff. I DT overnight before every co-wash/shampoo, using a small amount of coconut oil mixed in with conditioner.

BTW, you should be careful about leaving your hair too wet for a long period of time. This causes breakage, so I only apply the DT to dry hair.

Damaged in what way? Split ends? I think you should correct the damage first and use the DTs more as a preventative measure.

Yeah, I'd interested to know what the QH ingredients are...I remember using that stuff many years ago. It wasn't anything to shout about, if i remember right.

I like to leave my DTs for a long time. Overnight feels great. Euh, I wouldn't DT with mineral oil though... Try Conditioner, honey and coconut oil

I have used QH, and I hated it. It made my hair tangled and dry, and it was in worse condition than before I used it! I know other companies have 'mayonnaise' treatments so those may be better. Real mayonnaise actually works much better, or at least it did for me.

You can't really leave a conditioner in your hair for too long, the worst thing that'll happen is that your hair will be weighed down. You can use mayo, various oils, or conditioner for an overnight DT. Wrapping your hair in plastic wrap will protect your pillow, as well as help the ingredients penetrate your hair.

Not only does Queen Helene Cholesterol have mineral oil in it, it has sodium lauryl sulfate!!!!! Not exactly low on the list either.

Gee, no wonder it rinsed out so cleanly when I used to use it.

Should be labeled "threat to hair, step away"
I don't really get it, who makes these kind of products and then calls them a DT? lol
