Nope. They have to be my hair twin (or close cousin).

Do you take hair advice from ppl w/different hair?
What criteria do you take into account when listening to hair advice? Please elaborate.

I put "dealt w/ same issue."
Another criteria I use is: likes some of the same products as I do/hair responds the same way as mine to certain products.
I also like to hear from people w/ a similar length. The way hair hangs, moves, bounces, dries out after the first day, etc. is important to me. And someone w/ a TWA, for instance, isn't going to be able to relate as well as someone w/ hair around my length.
No, I've gotten some good recs and advice from many different txtures and curl patterns.

I was going to include that option, but I forgot it. Thanks for mentioning it, too bad they don't let you edit these polls.

I put : Dealt successfuly with same issues
I also tend to trust the opinion of people who like the products that I like... Somehow, makes me think our hair is alike although it doesn't really look exactly the same.

I usually pay attention to only 3b-3cs.. and people who have dealt with the same issues. It's simple that I will never be a wavy, and I'm better off not asking for their advice. Same with the type 4's.

I take advice from anybody. My hair sometimes has multiple personalities.

I only take advice from people with hair above their shoulders. People with really long hair play by different rules.

I voted only one with a similar curl type but they can have different texture.
I am a 3a/3b combo and prefer to stick with those who have a similar type. Someone with a type 2a or 3b/3c combo will have totally different problems than me and what works for me won't work for them, especially if they are a 2a.

I voted same issues. For example, if my hair is really dry, then I figure things that worked for others with dry hair should moisturize mine too. I'll probably take advice quicker from someone who has hair that's similar to mine, but I'll listen to everyone's advice. If someone who looks like my hair twin is getting excellent results with certain products, I might go out and buy them right away. If a 4-type is getting good results with something, I will probably do more research first to make sure the product is not going to be too heavy for my fine hair, etc.

I'll take advice from anyone as long as it makes sense. Since I don't do a lot of styling, I'm mostly looking for advice on how to keep my hair moisturized and healthy.
So if someone has a different hair type or length, I just adjust the amount of product I would use to fit my needs.

Coarse, medium, fine seems to count for me sometimes more than curliness. And anyone who has the same issue listen to.

I voted they have to be my hair twin. I have gotten advice from people who had the same problems, suggested something and it didn't work. So you either have my hair or you don't tell me what to do with it. (Or something similar to my hair!)

Ditto. Plus alot of times what works for wavy/curlies with my same hair type works the opposite for me . If they're anything above a 3B that's way out of my curl range.

From anyone who's successfully dealt with the issue I currently have.
Sometimes the texture has nothing to do with the problem. If it sounds like something i haven't tried yet but could be successful at i take the plunge sometimes i just do anyway to "see" what happens.lol

I can't take or give hair advice to fine, thin haired people since I have a very different type of hair. But I generally will consider hair advice from anyone in the Type 3 range. Anything looser or coilier doesn't really apply since the hair type is so different. This goes for products to techniques to hair straightening methods, like flat ironing and thermal reconditioning.
