complete reformulation of Abba products
Okay...take a deep breath, Abba Weightless Gel users. Abba has begun rolling out their new Pure line of hair products, and they have discontinued or reformulated every product they are launching.
Old Abba Weightless Gel ingreds:
botanical infusion of: citrus grandis (grapefruit), prunus virginiana (cherry) bark, anthemisnobilis (chamomile), cassia italica (neutral henna), humulus lupulus (hops), ascophyllum nodosum (seaweed), polyquaternium-46, pvp/va copolymer, hydrolyzed propyltrimonium soy protein, hydrolyzed soy protein, hydrolyzed wheat protein, wheat amino acids, hydrolyzed propyltrimonium wheat protein, hydrolyzed oat protein, panthenol, (vit. b5)ascorbic acid (vit. c), tocopherol (vit. e), corn (zea mays) oil, retinyl palmitate (vit. a), cholecalciferol (vit. d3), propylene glycol, dimethicone copolyol, hydroxypropyl guarhydroxypropyltrimonium chloride (tree bean), peg-45m, benzophenone-4, carbomer, triethanolamine, dmdm hydantoin, methylparaben, tetrasodium edta, mica, titanium dioxide, fd&c red no. 40, fd&c yellow, d&c red no. 33, abba’s aromatherapy fragrance
new Pure Finish Gel ingreds:
botanical infusion of: [water (aqua) (eau), chamomilla recutita (matricaria) extract, prunus serotina (wild cherry) bark extract, lawsonia inermis (henna) extract, humulus lupulus (hops) extract, macrocystis pyrifera extract, citrus grandis (grapefruit) seed extract, crithmum maritimum extract], polyquaternium-46, vpa/a copolymer, hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed soy protein (1500 mw), hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed wheat protein (1500 mw), hydrolyzed soy protein (1000 mw), hydrolyzed wheat protein (2000 mw), hydrolyzed oat protein (2000 mw), wheat amino acids, panthenol (provitamin b5), ascorbic acid (vitamin c), tocopheryl acetate (vitamin e acetate), retinyl palmitate (vitamin a), cholecalciferol (vitamin d3), propylene glycol, peg-12 dimethicone, hydroxypropyi guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, lupin amino acids (150 mw), peg-45m, carbomer, triethanolamine, tetrasodium edta, citral, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, dmdm hydantoin, methylparaben, titanium dioxide (cl 77891), mica (cl 77019), abba aromatherapy fragrance (parfum).
The biggest charge I noticed right off is the different hold ingredient--from pvp/va copolymer to vpa/a copolymer and a lesser placement of grapefruit extract (which could make it less drying). Also noticed corn oil dropped from the new list.
Anyway, I felt an obligation to share this for all of the current fans.
The following Abba products were discontinued without reformulation/renaming, according to my source.
Forming Polish
Uplift Gel
Botz Stress Shield, Two in One Styling Cream & UV Protector
InShape Defining Creme-Gel
Straightening Balm
Bodifying Tonic (hairspray)
Botanical Finish (hairspray)
The main change overall I noticed was that they now only have 2 hairsprays. Since I'm not a "hairspray person," that didn't rock my world, but I can imagine the shock for others.

Well, it still seems to have every protein possible. I don't ever have a problem with protein, except for this gel (at least the old Weightless).

I just posted all the new products (all new products start with "Pure") in the Product Reviews area.

I left the old for now so the formulations can be compared. I'll upload the pics of the new products soon (at work now so can only do so much on the fly).

Laurabeth: Thanks so much for posting this. Can I ask what the difference is in those hold ingredients (pvp/va vs. vpa/a) for the new gel as opposed to the old Abba Weightless? Looks like the new one could possibly be better for the hair. I just bought a new bottle of the AWG, so at least I won't have to worry about it for awhile since I don't use it that often.

Hopefully, Swirlycurly Chemist will weigh in on that question. I'm curious if my contact inverted two characters and vpa/a should be pva/a. Not sure though.

I use this everyday! I hope I still get the same results. I'm almost out and will have to buy some soon.

Slight guano:
Laurabeth - Where are you finding the whole list of ingredients? I'm trying to find the indgredients for Mica (ABBA) and it doesn't show the complete list on their website.
Oh...and thanks for posting the new information on the gel!

Well, at least they got rid of benzophenone-4 (I'm allergic, it has nothing to do with CG issues).

I've spend many afternoons (as have a few others when trying to find lists for more difficult to find products) tedious writing them out and typing them up from the bottles themselves. (but well worth it to have them)

I have the Mica and I don't use it because I'm pretty sure it has the evil cone in it, but it's been quite awhile since I've looked at it. If I can remember, I'll check my bottle tonight & let you know.

Wow! Thanks! I've been looking off and on this morning and couldn't find them. So many cones!

Boo.
I'm kind of upset they took out the Benzophenone-3 in the new leave in, i quite liked having sunscreen in it. But everything else looks okay, i'll have to check it with the abba nourishing again later.
