Default Deva: flat hair

I used the Deva system today for the first time. I LOVE the way the No Poo cleans and the way the OneC moisturizes my hair. I've never been that big a fan of Angell, but today I even had waving up to my roots. But it seemed to make my hair really flat, and it definitely didn't hold up to the 90% humidity. I'm going to try with a different gel, but I feel at a loss. My hair looks awful lately: flat, weighed down, frizzy. I know it's because of Philly's humidity. I wish Fall were here already!

Any suggestions?

Default i had same problem

i eventually gave up on deva products after years of use for the same reasons--too flat on top, too much frizz. the products were too heavy for me if used all together. once an assistant there told me that with my wavy head i should low poo once a week . . . good advice i didn't take.

i also think that in summer it's necessary to find something more humidity-resistant--i love angell in winter or dry weather.

i'll be interested to hear what others have to say on this.

Try the arc angell, that seems to have more hold. And I am with you...where is FALL???? Can't stand this humid weather!

I found that One C is really too heavy for my 3a hair. And Angell doesn't have enough hold for me. ArcAngell is better, but I need to use a TON of it, which is just not cost-effective. Low-Poo is my favorite of the Deva products.

I just use the OneC as a DT - otherwise it's too heavy for my fine 3a hair. It's great for that, though!

I'm in Philly, too and have been having good luck lately - in this humidity -with lots of CK and then re:coil. I think the trick is lots of CK....

You may need to use a gentle poo to get rid of the Deva build-up... I like EMS for that.

Good luck - with all this humidity, why can't it rain??? My garden is downright crispy!

What do you normally use? I love your volume in your pictures and how your curls stick out away from your head. I think I need a haircut.

Thanks for the compliments! Most of my pictures have a routine posted with them. What was working consistently for some time last winter was co wash with V05, co with Activate, Curl junkie Banana Hibiscus leave in, then ReCoil, BRHG, plop, diffuse using pixiecurl method. But this summer has just wreaked havoc on my hair, and EVERYTHING is too heavy, but my hair seems so dry if I don't condition enough. i can't get the same volume and curl i was having over the winter! It all went downhill around late May.

Do you have a sensitivity to protein?

Hello,
Sorry i don't have an answer for you, but I feel your pain! I am also in the Philly area and my hair has been a mess lately. Maybe its the extra month of summer we have been having this year? I used to hate the cold weather, now i'm looking forward to it because i am hoping it will bring better hair! Keep us posted if you figure it out......

No, I am fairly certain I don't have a sensitivity to protein as my winter routine last year involved regular use of protein-containing products and my hair was great... I wish i could have that back! I'm experimenting today with diff. products (still using NoPoo and OneC as they made my hair feel soo soft and moisturized), and I'll let you all know how it turns out.
