long layers?

can someone show me an example of a long curly haircut with long layers?

i have 3A hair, and everytime i go in for a cut, the stylist will cut these really short chin length layers, that are barely wavy and look out of place with the longer curly hair underneath. this happens everytime! i think the next time i go in, i'm going to insist on longer layers, but i've always thought long layers weighed hair down?
I don't have a picture, but long layers actually take weight off of your hair.

I don't have a picture, either. I do have long layers and have had them for years. Without layers my hair does that awful triangle thing! I love my long layers. Just to give you an idea what it looks like...the longest layers are about to my um bbs and the shortest a couple inches past my chin. I can still pull all my hair back into a ponytail if I need to and as long as the layers are blended correctly, my hair curls nicer and yet still looks full. Hope that helps!

ane,

check out my www i have long layers. they are kind of hard to see because of the curls, but they def take weight off and prevent pyramid head.

I have long layers too, if you look in my fotki you can see. It is really hard to tell with the curls how long they are. For me long layers are the way to go because I have very thick hair. I really love the overall shape it gives me.
Here's some info on long layers. I'm glad you mentioned it because I wasn't entirely sure where "long" began, lol:

LONG LAYERS

Who it works for: Those who love the look of long, Gisele-like hair, but want volume and versatility.

Tell your hairstylist: Layers should start at about an inch below chin length. If it's too short and you'll end up with "The Rachel." Layer the back as well so you get movement and a nice curve throughout the hair.

Maintenance: To avoid straggly ends, get a trim every 3 months and don't over-wash your hair. Long layers actually look better a few days after washing.
