Up until last September, I used to color my hair a medium blonde by Loreal Preference or Excellence. It was getting pretty damaged and starting to look bad, so I went to my salon and had them "fix" it. They put a filler on it, dyed it back to my natural dark blonde and then put all over bleach blonde highlights. I've been back twice and she has put light blonde highlights and dark blond liowlights. It looks pretty cool, but I think I am going to skip the lowlights next time and see what happens. I don't think my hair is too damaged now. I DT every week and use only a non-SLS 'poo.

I just dyed my hair a couple days ago with a semi-permenant medium brown color. It was the first time I ever dyed my hair. Well, it was kind of red tinted and warmer than what I wanted, so I'll just be waiting for it to fade. Next time I'll be more careful when choosing the color, but maybe there won't even be a next time, as my natural color is looking a lot more appealing now that I have this yucky color.

Same here. I was getting my hair professionally colored (roots only) but my hair was getting fried. I decided my hair simply does not like to be colored long-term. It's too bad because the color does give better curls at first--the natural hair I have right now is much frizzier than I remember my old colored hair being.
I maybe have one or two more cuts until all the old color is gone, then I'll figure out what to do.

hmm, I wasn't sure which option to pick. I use henna and sometimes indigo to dye my hair.
My natural hair colour is somewhere between dark blonde and light brown with a little gray coming in. I don't mind the grays, just got tired of my hair looking blah and mousey.

I used to color my hair however I dont anymore. I loved the color but hated the condition of my hair afterwards. And the condition is more important to me at this time. My mind may change a lil when I start getting some grays

Yup. Everytime I think I've had enough with the color I end up going back to it. Right now I have chocolate brown (similar to my natural hair color) perment and highlights on the top half.

Ditto, but mine is black and it's my natural hair color. I didn't vote because there isn't an option for what I do.

I chose the "permanent all over color in a different shade" option, even though the shade I use is pretty close to my natural brown shade. Mainly I color to hide my ever-increasing greys, but coloring also seems to perk up my natural dark brown color to a slightly lighter brown with very subtle reddish highlights.

I have dark brown hair but with the little bit of gray coming in and it being thin, the highlights really help to not only cover the gray, but it adds texture. Several months ago, I went back to my dark brown and could NOT get used to it! My (former) stepdaughter works at Ulta, so she does it for me. I actually probably should have checked (highlights and color) as I think she actually puts my natural color on to cover the gray, then adds the highlights.
She actually "blonded" me up quite a bit this time and after a month, people are noticing and I've received more compliments on both the color AND my waves/curls .

I color my hair my natural dark brown color to cover gray hair once a month with henna (or cassia, who knows for sure!), sage, rosemary, and coffee.
