Images of 1930's big curl styles - where do I find them pls?

Hi,

I've been all around the block and the best I can find is a few old Shirley Temple photos of the style I"m after, but obviously, want a more modern grown up twist. I'm pretty sure there was a Madonna or Christina Aquilera look fairly recently but I can't find a pic to take to my hairdressers for my 40th.. and really want it done before the big day to see if I like it or not. I seem to remember images of photos I've seen of movie stars from the 1920 and 30s with rows of big curls (quite short though, not long hair) and I just can't seem to find any. Maybe I was just dreaming.

Anyone remember any new artists that have 'done the look' or does anyone know of any 20s 30s moviestar sites with images?

Yours, any advice gratefully received,

Sianx PS I've done a lot the readers styles on the wonderful naturallycurly.com but just can't find the one I'm after.
did you see this site already, looks pretty good...

That's a great link to the 1920s & 1930s hair styles. It makes me wonder what the ingredients of the 'curling fluids' are (or 'were'), and if any of the manufacturers are still in business today...
some seriously funky do's, not sure i'd be into them...

Hi, thanks all so much for your responses I've not been around since I posted due to sick children! However I promise to work out how to upload pics and will post some pics tomorrow. I think it's kind of a finger wave at the top, then big sausage curls then stops at just below the ear. Really appreciate the 1920s weblink. I've got some people staying tonight and it's all a bit of a mare, but will get back to you tomorrow evening! Many many thanks all!

Hi all, finally got my head round posting images, quite easy really! Feast your eyes on these! The tiny image is the finger wave part, which would be at the top of the head then round the side Shirley Temples sausage curls, but a bit more modern a bit like Chrisina's in the first image... I love the pics, even if I never find one good single image. There must be one somewhere! Fingers crossed you might know what I'm getting at now,

Sx
