I need a PJ support group

I officially declared to my friend today (who deals with my exuberant PJism on a daily basis) that I'm not going to buy any more hair product until after my winter break is over: January 23.

I've been using AOHR for a while and love it, but in looking for another conditioner to add to my rotation, I bought MyHoneyChild HoneyNutt conditioner and am satisfied well enough. I like the simple ingredient list and the way it makes my hair feel in the shower. Unfortunately, I was browsing the forums and saw that LovemyLocks got TIGI Moisture Maniac off of amazon.com for an amazing price (3x the amount availabe near me, for the same exact price), so I got some, along with Biotera Styling Gel. Okay. I can deal with that.

But I just counted up all my product, and found that I have:

2 cleansers/co-washes
3 conditioners
3 leave-ins
7 stylers
3 finishers/other

Wow me, slow down. My budget can't handle this! I'm officially stopping for now. I'll allow myself to buy refills of existing products (like co-washing condishes and such) if I run out, and I can swap products as long as I swap ENTIRE bottles of product away, and I can sell stuff I deem not worth keeping. BUT NO MORE BUYING.

The good news is, I have 2 less-than-half-full bottles of HE gel that may not be repurchases. Maybe I'll buy the Body Envy for the warmer weather, but for now I absolutely do not need them. Also, either my pink Boots or my Jane Carter C&S is going to go, depending on which one works better with my newly purchased Confident Coils.

Anyway, now that I've announced this, I can't go back on my word. So I'm counting on all you lovely ladies to help me through this. Besides, I need this time to actually establish what, out of the product I already have, actually WORKS for me.

Hehe...I'll join your support group. I'm scared to actually add up what I've bought since I found this website, LOL!

Hang in there - you can do it!
That doesn't look like a OTT list to me, although if you keep it up at the rate you're going it might get that way very soon. You're lucky in that you've had so many successes, so you definitely don't *need* to be buying new stuff left, right and center. Anyway, good idea to start to rein it in to before it gets ridiculously out of hand. You have my support .
If it makes you feel any better, I have WAY more than that!
3a/medium texture/normal porosity
I guess looking back at that tally, it doesn't seem like much. But I kinda get made fun of for my "product shelf" (literally) and it reeeally cuts into my tight college budget. Haha.

I always try to wait until I deplete a product before ordering a new one. Like say there's this conditioner that I want to try, I have to be completely out of my current conditioner before I can try a new one. The problem with this is that I fear that I might hate the new conditioner so then I also buy my HG conditioner. It is a never ending saga! I have pretty much come to the conclusion that it is ok to have at least two of everything! I'm also trying to curve my spending since X-mas is near. You can definitely count on me.
3c-4a; Protein Sensitive(forms of wheat, keratin, soy and anything "hydrolyzed"). My hair hates coconut oil and jojoba oil(sometimes).

Don't feel bad - I know I have to have at least 6 times more stuff than you listed. It's pathetic.

OK, I need to type this all out to be honest with myself - so ashamed! But it's the first step, right? Mysteryflavored - I wish my list was as small as yours! I have always collected hair products I think....

And I would like to join your support group.... as soon as I have a decent, affordable CO and clarifying shampoo....Spoken like a true PJ, wow.
(I may invest in some Trader Joe's soon so I can call it a day... although I was considering Elucence for CO and an Alba shampoo that i used to really like...)

I currently have (and do not really use...):

- 1/3 a bottle of moisture maniac shampoo
- bottle of Victoria's Secret So Sexy Curling Gel
- container of Victoria's Secret So Sexy pomade

Hey maybe I need to go to the Swap Board!! Never done it before, so... hmm...
3b, and increasingly c pieces... my curls will always be a little confused, but that is just fine!

ConfusedCurl, the swap board is wonderful. As soon as I gather the courage to part with some of my product, I think I'll sell it on the swap board, or swap it for something I already use.

ETA - I guess I forgot to mention the multiple bottles I have of certain product...
Location: North NJ or NYC
i think i have always been scared to do it (the swap board)! so i will give it a try

I think I will have a hard time parting with some of my stuff as well... I always think... well, I might use it someday.....

um, the other day I finally threw out a shiny pomade product that I have had for 7-8 years. It still smelled and looked the same... which i thought ws great, but in retrospect is pretty scary, what was it, plastic!?

WHAT WAS I THINKING!?!?!?!?

it seems pretty reasonable to me. If you are trying out stuff you're going to have multiples of everything.

I'm all for joining a support group. I have so many bottles (I think I listed a majority of them in another post) but I'm hesitant to actually try some out for fear I'll love it so much that all the others will go to waste. At the beginning of every month and after I've paid all my bills, I'll tell my SO that I'm swearing off buying hair products for the rest of the month. All he does is laugh and say, "Yeah right."

Curl enhancer: Mop-C curl cream
DT: Deva Heaven in Hair; JC WDT
Gel: B&A; Arc Angel
Conditioner: Deva OneC; JC too shea
Frizz fighters: CK, JCS C&S

A sure sign u've tipped the PJ scale ... How about placing another order before the last one has arrived.

I have ordered so many products since I found this site, I would be embarrassed to list them all. That would be too close to fully acknowledging my problem.

I'd love to say that I am going to jump on board ... maybe after my next order ... I want to try the LLL Green Tea poo and condish and the deva clips ... but definitely after that ... REALLY .... definitely after that.

I'm like the drunk who swears to get sober at each hangover.
Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!
