Is there any way I can find a salon/stylist in my area that specializes in cutting curly hair? My hair is getting a little too long for my liking and I want to have it trimmed up a little, plus I've got split ends. I tend to avoid getting haircuts as often as I need to - my last trim was in March. I'm sick of going to places where they insist on wetting my hair before they cut it despite my asking them not to (so that it curls up to look shorter than I want it to look), and who won't let me leave the chair until they've straightened my hair. I've gone to so many different salons and they all seem to do the same thing to my hair. I would love to find a place or a person who knows how to care for my curls and won't make me dread getting a haircut. I live in Albuquerque, NM if that helps. Thanks!

I just moved from there a year and a half ago. I had an excellent stylist there: Fredrico Sr at Fredrico's Hair Salon - http://www.espan.net/fredrico/fredrico.htm

Click on the photo gallery on the left buttons, I'm at the top (before/after photos). Fredrico Sr is on the left under that.

He does cut hair wet though, unless he's changed in the last 1 1/2 yrs. But he's usually good about checking the length before and when wet to gauge the shrinkage. I have some very curly friends who still see him (gemidevi is one). I forgot to say, he LOVES curly hair and will not straighten it.
