Joico Joiwhip is a really popular one on this website. I also like the one by Paul Mitchell and Redken's Fresh Curls Spring Mousse. I know that Joiwhip and Redken's is CG, not sure about PM's.
Joiwhip is a better value for the price. It has lots of hold and crunch, but it is fairly easy to scrunch it out. I really like the Redken one as well, but it is more costly for a smaller container.

I use Alfaparf semi di lino firm hold mousse and really like it, not entirely sure it's cg but I think it is. I've also used Joiwhip and PM with good results. I actually find that any mousse reduces volume for me but I seem to be in the minority with this, most people seem to get more volume with them.

On a whim I bought HEBE mousse and gel on sale a week ago. I usually have to layer a small amount of gel over any mousse, but, if you're looking for hold, this mousse seems to hold/crunch more than most gels I've used in the past. When the humidity is down, I look for products that volumize, and this is really nice for the price. I'm still working out the amount to use (using too much out of habit, so I have a bit of crunch to scrunch), and what co/leave-in to layer with, but, all-in-all, I think it's worth the purchase.

Another vote for Joiwhip! It's CG, has good hold and you only need a little bit.

I know this is probably bad, but I just use pantene mousse & gel... I use Osis Tex it gel when I want my hair to look realllllly good or really curly, but that stuff is expensive!!! I'm paying my way through college and I don't have that much extra money to spend on hair products!

I just recently experimented with a mousse rec I came across on the site and I love it! It said in that thread that it's the same consistency as joiwhip but it's super cheap and you can find it at the drugstore. $2.29! It's called Condition 3-in-1 Maximum Hold Mousse. CG friendly, natch.

So what's the difference between Joiwhip & Joico Ice Whip? I don't know if the last one is even being made still.

No difference -- Joiwhip is the same as Ice Whip -- new name.

Gotcha! Then I'll remove it from my stocking stuffer idea list. I tried this mousse some time ago & didn't like it for some reason.

I may be a little late, but for drugstore mousse, I love love love Tresemme's mousse for curly hair. It's a black container with green accents and it's my everyday HG product...and it's cheap!

I loved the results that Pantene's curl mousse first gave me, but it really dried my hair out after a couple uses.

The name is Flawless Curls Curl Enhancing Mousse
I'm actually not sure how CG it is, I found it while I was being pretty diligent about looking for 'cones, so i don't see any that are blatantly cones..but i"m not very knowledgeable about CG ingredients...So I apologize if I got your hopes up and steered you in the wrong direction, but I really do love this mousse!

I looked this mousse up and found that it contains Dimethicone Copolymer. Is it still CG friendly? I'm so excited to use something with better hold!

Did you mean Dimethicone copolyol? That's the water soluble one.
