What kinds of products would help?

My hair usually looks pretty good when it's wet, but then as it dries, the waves/curls lose their definition and kind of fall out some and I end up with frizzy, uneven waves and flat roots. And as the day goes on, it gets frizzier and limper.

I've tried to find a good hair gel for the definition and frizz issues, but I can't seem to find one. Most of the ones I've tried do nothing for me. I thought it was maybe because I was trying drugstore products, so I bought some AnGell, but that didn't seem to help either.

Any ideas? TIA

What's your conditioning routine like? I know that when my hair need conditioning, it is straighter when it dries. When it's got moisture, it curls more.

1. LOOB - it's the best curl-enhancer for me b/c it doesn't weigh my hair down. I put a pea-sized amount on my hairline and it helps a lot w/ the flat root problem.

2. Plopping - for me, at least 15 minutes, half an hour is even better!

3. Suave #8 gel - It's super-cheap and actually works REALLY well w/ LOOB. I put the LOOB on first, I use a little less than a palmful for my entire head, and a big palmful of the #8 gel over that.

4. Using MORE condish - Like jillipoo said, you may need more moisture. I love the Aubry Organics Honeysuckle Rose CO.

5. Using LESS condish - This is where it gets confusing - I've found that when I'm OVER conditioned, my hair also goes flat. I usually will trying upping my CO first, and if my hair is still flat I will wash w/ a gentle poo - Usually Deva's Low-Poo. B/c it's winter, I will wash my hair about twice a week, in the summer I do it almost every time I wet it.

6. Haircut - I've got a lot of hair, and when it gets too long my roots get weighed down. I say if all else fails give this a try!!

HTH!! Let me know if any of this works for you!

I always condition my hair with Pantene Pro-V and I leave some of the conditioner in my hair each time. Could my hair still be dried out?

I'm not aware if Pantene Pro V is a good choice or not because I don't know the ingredients. I've become really hooked on JC Too Shea (and JC WDT as a leave in when I need one.)

Thanks Kasey314. You are very, very helpful! I love your hair Kasey!

I think this weekend I might try some LOOB (Loreal Out Of Bed in the little tub, right?) and some Suave #8 gel. Easy and cheep to purchase right at the Walgreens on the corner. More products to add to my collection!

Ditto on the Pantene Pro V -- also Pantene's Hydrating Curls line. It has cones and is totally drying.

One thing I just learned yesterday when I was getting my hair cut by the Deva-trained stylist was that AnGell (and other gels, she implied) work best for us curlies when applied to sopping wet hair. I had never had any luck with AnGell but this morning I gave it a whirl on my wet hair before I even got out of the shower, and dang if it didn't make a difference! I got better definition than I had in the past. So, that's another trick you might try.

Also do you diffuse at all? I have actually found that diffusing makes my hair curl and hold better. It sort of "sets" the curls.
3A; I have HG products!
Curl enhancer: Mop-C curl cream
DT: Deva Heaven in Hair; JC WDT
Gel: B&A; Arc Angel
Conditioner: Deva OneC; JC too shea
Frizz fighters: CK, JCS C&S
PW: curlynow
I agree with all of the above ... I didn't realize until I found this website how important conditioning is. I never used a leave-in before ... let alone the strong ones I'm using now. I would have thought I'd be left with greasy hair .... I was sooo wrong.
I love SheaM and JC's WDT as leave-ins. When I use them, my hair has very little frizz and holds the curl much better. I also find that the products don't tend to dry as crunchy.
Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!
