Introduction and help with figuring my hair type

I'm just pasting this over from the Newbie Board
Hi fellow curly gals,
I'm new to this site, but am super thrilled to see a site dedicated to curly hair. I've struggled with my hair for as long as I can remember, and just as I was embracing my curl...it changed! I have 3 kiddos, my hair stayed super curly after my first (girl, Olivia 4.5yrs) though after my second babe (Maxwel 2.5yrs) it straightened out lots. Then while I was pg with our last little munchkin (Nyla Rue 7mos) it started to curl again (underneath at the nap of my neck and the curl's been moving up. Soooo, I'm stuck with sort of wavy/semi curly hair on top and around my face and tighter curls on the back and underneath my hair. My hair is fine, but thick and I get it texturized quite a bit to reduce the bulk. I love the curl, and wish it was all curly again...perhaps after I'm done nursing and my hormones aren't all wacky. I cut it short about 10yrs ago and it got shorter and shorter, probably about 2in at it's shortest. I liked it funky and springy, though with looser curls I'm trying to grow it out again (have been for the last year or so though it grows slow), it's a little past my shoulders now.
that's my curl story in a nutshell. I look forward to meeting you and swapping curl tips.

Any thoughts on what my hair type is and/or anyone with curls that are less than uniform due to hormone change?

still a little damp and crispy (no touching while drying rule, I scrunch more to loosen it up after it's dried)

Hi and Welcome to NC.com! You have great hair -- I would say right now it's probably a 2b -- I'm definitely not a hair typing expert, though. Just keeping coming to these boards. You'll get fantastic advice and tips from all the very wise curlies around here. With the right routine and products for your hair type -- and it takes A LOT of experimenting! -- you could end up with even more curls. I know my hair is so much healthier now, thanks to all the wonderful people here. Good luck and, again, WELCOME!

Thanks for the welcome, you have gorgeous hair btw. It looks very healthy. I'm anxious to start some new hair products. Right now, I'm using PhytoNectar Shampoo and Phyto Karite conditioner, it's good stuff...great for restoring health and moisture..not specific for curls though. I definitely need some new product and am anxious to get some tips on what's good for my hair type. You think I'm a 2b? I'd have thought the back part of my hair would be more 3b stuff, it's super tight curls. Though the tops and around my face is pretty loose (darn hormones, my hair is in a bit of a dr jeckel mr hyde stage)
Thanks again for the tips, I look forward to meeting you all and sharing curly tips

I was basing the 2b on what I saw from the front. Maybe someone with more typing expertise than I have can chime in and give you a more accurate type. You very well could be 3b in the back. A lot of people here have mixed textures in their hair. I know for me personally, my hair is curlier and the curls are more even all over when I keep plenty of moisture in my hair. The experimenting never ends! It's fun, though!

Thanks again Gib. I'm in a cloud now as to where to even start with wat to do with my hair. I want more volume and more curl on top and more length. My hair grows soooo slowly, it's driving me insane. I can imagine that the experimenting can be quite addicting (and expensive
