Got a great Deva cut in San Francisco

I went to MaduSalon in San Francisco this weekend and got a great Deva cut from Adrian. He was very good! This is my second Deva cut, I went to another stylist previously, and she was great too, but Adrian is a little closer. I drive an hour and a half to get there!

He explained everything he was doing and was also interested in my own routine. I was very pleased!

Just thought I would share...

sorry I don't have pics. I'll figure out how to put one on here someday... I'm 3B, shoulder length.

Hi Laney! So you went to a totally different salon after all. You had your last cut by Teresa Callen, right? How would you compare your new cut by Adrian to the one by Teresa? I need to go back soon, and wonder if I should go back to her or try someone else (she raised her rates). How much did Adrian charge for the cut?

Hi Curlilocks!

Adrian charged $85 for the cut. He was very thorough and a very nice person. He cut it dry, then washed, dryed with paper towels, added product, etc. He clipped the top and then I dryed under the dryer. Once dry, he snipped again and then had me stand, lean over with my hair hanging to one side, then the other, then all the way upside down and snipped some more. I was there about an hour and a 1/2.

I called earlier in the week to get in to to see someone at Madusalon, since they have several Deva trained stlyists, and was able to get in on that Saturday! It was really hard to a hold of and get in to see Teresa.

It's hard for me to actually compare to Teresa because when I went to her, I had her do color also and after 4 hours, I ran out of time and had to leave. Unfortunately, I was at the stage where I had to leave with my hair really wet and she never had the chance to see it dry and make adjustments.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! You should add your review to the Salons section. There aren't many recent ones, esp for MeduSalon and none for Adrian. It would be helpful to others.

I'm still deciding. Maybe I'll call them both and see when I can get in. I'm not too scared of trying someone new if they are deva-trained, they shouldn't mess up too much.

As far as pictures, you can set up a fotki account at www.fotki.com for free! You then post the link here and/or add it to your profile. Or you can email me one! I'd really like to see how well Adrian did.

Less than an hour ago, I got back from my first cut at Madusalon! I had Marie and she was great -- but strangely enough, my hair was much curlier when I went in than when I left! I have *got* to figure out how to use the digital camera my boyfriend has so I can get some pics. I think the cut she gave me is good but I'm disappointed that the curl is ... subdued. I'll know better tomorrow after I wash it.

She also used all Deva products (naturally). I have to say that Set it Free is just too odd -- I don't even like it when somebody who knows how to use it puts it on my hair!

But yes, it was good to have someone not only confirm that what I'm doing is mostly right, but to give me tips for improvement, as well.

I will post a review in the reviews section after I live with this haircut for a couple of days. But overall, my experience was good.

jillipoo - yes, give it a couple of days and wash and style it yourself. My hair always looks less curly after a cut, even a deva-cut! LMK how it reacts afterward. Can't wait for those pics.

You two will have to keep me posted on how you are liking your cuts in the next couple of weeks. I will be going to SF each Saturday from 1/26-2/16 for my son's classes, and I figure I can get a cut while I'm hanging around waiting for him. Wheee!

I really could use pictures of you both for reference here!
