Baking Soda: Revisited

Baking Soda is a lifesaver for me. After I use it, my curls are curlier, shinier, and frizz-free. But this lasts for two washes, and then theyíre just average. So, is using baking soda every four days bad for my hair? Will it strip the color or leave it dry? If so, can you suggest alternatives?

Also, I donít understand what Iím doing wrong. I use a CG friendly conditioner. I use no styling products. My water isnít hard. I don't get it. Can someone help?

TIA!
How do you use it? I'm really intrigued, not heard of using baking soda before....and sorry if I'm being a bit dense, but is that Bicarbonate of Soda, or Baking Powder?

How does that not completely dry your hair out?? I've used it to pull out haircolor if I've colored too dark, but then I have to DT for days afterwards.
Hair Type: 2B/3A hybrid, I believe. Had it short for about 5 years, and have since let it grow. Layers have brought out the curl...and I haven't gone 'straight' since!
