Getting a Deva cut at Cala Renee next Friday

So SBB,
How did you make out today? With your biopsy and your haircut?

But enough about the biopsy.

Let me know what you think about the cut. It rained like a mutha today -- lightning and thunder. Posting 3 photos here, and a few more in my fotki here

Pre-cut photo (wish photos were a bit smaller, sorry). I washed with Wen and only used Knot Today. They said I could use light product.

Right after cut and style at the salon. Hair is very springy and fell right back into place but felt producty. Cala used B'leavein and ArcAngell. She used the clips, and I watched carefully so I could use them the same way. My face is shiny from being under the dryer.

You know all that product was coming out when I got home.
Here it is rinsed, Aveda Elixir and gel, dried and fluffed. Not the greatest shot and I missed a gap in the back, but I love the shape and crown height. And my ends feel great!

Since I hadn't cut in 5 months I asked Cala about the state of my ends, and she said there were splits on the outer layer at the crown but otherwise things looked good. So I'm continuing the oil rinsing and baggying.

P.S. I've gotten all good cuts from the Carriage House and they cut wet. If you don't want the carving and slicing, tell them and they won't (the price goes down too LOL). They also styled my hair better than I can, but they do use Curlisto which has a few small cones way down the list. I recommend Mindy if anyone goes there. I was going to Shelly and Kriya. Shelly left for I don't know where, and Kriya's on maternity leave (I recommend her too). They are all master stylists. I think I styled my hair better than Cala did, but I really like the cut.

Lots and lots of fine 3b-ish hair.
DevaCurl currently, but exploring new products.
Love the hair!
I love it! It looks great, even when she styled it. I think the cut flatters your face and actually fills it out some (in a good way).

I'm glad the biopsy went well and the scary part is over for you. ((hugs))

I thought of you yesterday because of all that rain. It poured like crazy!! It is so ironic that it always rains when you have a hairdressers appointment.
I love your hair cut. They shaped it up really well. How much did they charge you? Now I want to make an appointment.

Thanks Bushbabe, for the explanation. My stylist always cuts my hair wet, I might have to see what she thinks about cutting it dry. She usually does a really good job and has been cutting my hair for 10yrs now so knows my curls. I'm lucky to have her. So is the hair dry and productless? Or is product important in order to define the curls in order to know where to cut them? Thanks again

The breast biopsy came back negative; the microcalcifications are benign.

For those of you in or near Boston, MA I highly recommend the Faulkner Hospital Sagoff Breast Center. I had been getting my mammograms at Beth Israel. When I got that huge honking lump in my breast I went back to Sagoff. It was started by Drs. Iris Love and Susan Tryon. Love wrote that breast health book, can't remember the title. Tryon did a surgical biopsy on me back in the early 90's and she's as good as they come (she's not there anymore though).

Anyway, the Sagoff Dr. (Schneider) looked at my shots that BI had called normal, compared them to previous shots and did some more investigating via ultrasound and needle biopsy. I like that thoroughness a lot, especially when it comes to breasts.
