How to use Curly Meringue?

I just got my Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue (old formula). I was tempted by the buy one get one free sale, but the extra 10% off at Curlmart pushed me over the edge. I really didn't need another new hair product, but...

Anyway, can anyone out there who has used this in the past give me suggestions. I want to try it out tonight. Should I use anything under it or over it (gel?), apply by raking or scrunching, any other tips?

TIA!

Here's how I was shown by my hair stylist how to use Curly Meringue, and I have to say, it works beautifully, even though it runs counter to all that we have learned about how to apply product to our curly hair!

Work it into sectioned, towel-dried hair. My stylist separated my hair into probably 8 eight sections, but at home, I do about 5. You will use anywhere from a tablespoon to 2 tablespoons per section, depending on your hair's length. Rub the product between your palms. Start slightly away from the root of your hair and then put that section of hair between your palms and spread it down to the ends of your hair. Repeat this process in all sections -- don't pull too hard and don't rub the hair between your palms. You're really just trying to coat the hair.

Once all sections are covered, scrunch it where you'd like it to be. Curly Meringue isn't stiff but it does allow you to "guide" your hair a little. From here, you can either sit under a bonnet dryer or blow dry with a diffuser. Dry it completely. When it's really crunchy and not at all wet, scrunch out the crunch. You should have really glossy, defined curls!

You'll think as you apply the stuff that it's going to weigh your hair down and that it's just too heavy. But I promise you it isn't! Good luck!

I just rake the product into my hair the same way that I do with my other styling aids. Don't really care for smell and don't like the way it feels, but I've got to say that once my hair is dried, it looks awesome. I love this product, too bad it's been reformulated.
Oh, and it did pull my curls quite a bit, which I love. If you look at my Winter album you can see how much longer hair my looks when styled with this product. It really elongates it!

Thanks for the help guys. I used it last night and just scrunched it in. It dried quite nicely, but I was worried I hadn't used enough (it just feels so thick I was worried about using too much!) and my hair did get progressively more frizzy today so I think I need to use more. I'll try both your suggestions - I'm curious to see how it works on towel dried hair. I always apply products to very wet hair, but it took forever to dry with the Curly Meringue so maybe towel dried would be better.

I'll try again in a few days. Based on how my hair looked last night, I think this product has definite potential. It figures since it has been reformulated!

Thanks again!
