Help Please!!! Does Peppermint Or Lavender Make Your Scalp Itch???

UPDATE

I put my sulfur/oil mix in my hair before bed last night, and my scalp finally feels much better!!!

I purchased a shampoo with lavender and peppermint in it, My poor scalp has been itching like CRAZY TODAY ever since I co-washed this morning. My scalp has never itched like this. I've co-washed with a different brand, done a clarifying co-wash, and shampooed. My scalp still itches.
What the heck is going on??
ACV Rinse 2-3 times a week
Nature's Gate Biotin Conditioner
Curly Kinks: Satin Root, Coil Jam
Castor oil on scalp

This is only my experience but I've used lots of products with lavender in them and not had any problems - I even mix the eo with jojoba oil and use it to soothe my scalp when my psoriasis is playing up. Don't know about the mint though.
Awww, I'm sorry to hear that! Sounds like you might be allergic to something in that shampoo. Maybe you could take an antihistamine, like Benadryl, to help stop the itching. I know there are anti-itch creams out there, but I don't know if this is something you'd really want to slather on your scalp. I've heard that oatmeal is great for soothing itchies (esp. in the case of chicken pox), but I can't think of a way for you to get that on your scalp - without leaving bits of oatmeal in your hair.

Hopefully somebody else can chime in...

ETA: I found some stuff on the web about relieving itchy scalps.

From http://searchwarp.com/swa214765.htm:
"GARDEN REMEDY: Go to your garden and get 3 sprigs of Rosemary, and chop up and add to 3 tea bags of Chamomile tea. Boil gently, let cool, strain and rinse your hair with this liquid for a calming antiflammatory effect."

You could also try mixing a few drops of tea tree oil with a carrier oil like olive oil, and massaging that into your scalp.

I hope that helps!

Mints, menthol & tea tree oil make my skin itch & burn, as well as turn red.
Peppermint can irritate skin.

Lavender can irritate skin.

Good luck finding something that will work for you!
