does tea tree oil fade hair color?!?

I've been using tea tree oil for the past week(and boy does it stink..lol) for flaking scalp and I think its fading my hair color and very quickly! My hair is dark brown with red undertones, and and it seems the red is pulling through and my hair is almost all red now.. not that I mind but strange isn't it
Was it natural or color treated? Are you adding it to a conditioner or carrier oil? How diluted is it?
my hair is colored with semi-permanent hair and highlighted red. I haven't colored it in months. I've been adding two drops to my CO. Its the J/A/S/O/N pure tea tree, I thought thats what i was supposed to get? Maybe i'm wrong
Hmm, it might be the tea tree then. It is interesting that it's semi-perm but it had stayed for months before that.

A quick google showed about an equal number of products with tea tree warning that they might fade color, and claiming that they would not fade color, lol.

I highly recommend Max Green Alchemy's Scalp Rescue Shampoo and Conditioner. There is tea tree oil in it (amongst many other things), but it makes your scalp feel great ... and doesn't wreck your hair. I wouldn't use the shampoo everyday, but the conditioner also some great ingredients .. it might be worth a shot.
Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!
yes my hair does absorb color very well and it stays for long periods of time.. That explains it then I guess more more money down the drain..lol
