Foam vs gel...

Do some of you have success with foam (or mousse, don't know which one is the correct term)?

With gel I have the feeling that my hair does not look as natural as with mousse but I am afraid that mousse would dry my hair.
What's your experience?

I don't like either. I like curl creams.
That's right, I said it! I wear scrunchies!!

I am a sulfate washing, cone slabbing, curly lovin' s.o.b. The CG police haven't caught me yet.

I'm a gel girl, but I do like AG Mousse-Gel & Joiwhip once in awhile.

If I'm Going To Have A Bad Hair Day, It Might As Well Be In Aruba!

I do both. It depends on the weather. Today is warm and humid so I use CK and a dab of a thicker gel like BRHG. On cooler drier days I use CK and a mousse like Joiwhip or PMSF - this gives me extra volume when curls want to be limp in the cooler months. My curls are definitely climate driven.

Anymore I use mousse just for fun only, like taking a walk down memory lane, because it really doesn't have the best hold or curling power compared to other stuff.

However, the one out of many that I found to work the best for me is http://www.folica.com/got2b_Kinky_Cur_d1483.html got 2 be kinky curl defining curling mousse.

But really I'm more of a "gel year-round" and "cream/creme in the summer" type gal.
I prefer the creme/gel combo, but for a change I'll use Joico's Joiwhip or Paul Mitchell's Sculpting Foam. I get the best results from Joiwhip, especially if I use some SheaM as a leave-in beforehand. Without the SheaM, the Joiwhip can dry a little too crunchy.

I love mousse but the alcohol dries my hair out too much and since I went no-poo it's banned! I'm using Umberto Gianni gel which doesn't seem too drying, and once my hair is dry it scrunches out nicely and my curls are shiny.

I can't get mousse to work for me. It gives me volume, but no curl definition.

OK. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I think that I will go on with curl cremes and some gels for now. It's so tempting to try new stuff!!!

I guess I'm in the minority here but my hair seems to do well with mousse. I get better defined curls that last longer and don't go poofy on my halfway through the day. It seems to be working for me better now that my hair is longer also. I was getting stringy sections with just gel on my longer hair. The only negative about mousse for me is that I don't get as clumpier curls as I do with gel. Lately I've been using mousse as my main styling product with just a nickel size amout of gel on top and that seems to be helping to clump my curls better.

Even though I didn't have any luck with the AG Mousse (my hair is 3a, with some 3b), my daughter's hair loves it. She has waist length wavy hair (2a-b). Her hair lasts for days with this product.

No mousse for me!! I end up with frizzy, poofy 80's hair. The gels work best for me. I am waiting on the Jessi Curl products to arrive, but right now I am using the Pureology gel. I have also used creams in the past which worked great. My avatar pic was with a cream (that was discontinued )
I am also a cream styler/gel user. I never had any luck with mousse. No hold or curl definition for me, and seemed to be drying. Gel has much better holding properties.
I have 3A hair. I've discovered Jessicurl shampoo and Too Shea conditioner and I'm thrilled! Long-time LA Looks sport gel user.
