Protein DT.... WOW!
So, today I have a change in my schedule and decided to do my first homemade DT. I used 2 TBs of honey, 2 TBS of EVOO, and 2 egg yolks. I put it on dry hair and used a hot towel on it until it cooled off. After 1 hour I rinsed, used HCC, and did my usual routine. I plopped for 6 hours since I was in the house studying... WOW!
Soft hair, thinking about being 3a! And what shine! I love it! Protein definately works for me :blob7: |
glad your having a good hairday!! It feels good doesn't it:toothy10:
One thing I'm unclear about and maybe someone else will chime in here, how can you tell if your hair likes/dislikes protein? What does your hair do? |
good question!!! I've been avoiding it like the plague and using Aubrey's HR condish but I think my hair is missing the protein....it feels coated and too soft to do anything. I did an ACV rinse so that always helps.

You can kinda tell by feeling your hair while its wet. If it feels softer and kinda gummy that's a sign. Also, check a strand of shed hair, pull it and if it stretches a good deal more than you think it should that's another sign. If your curls are looking rather limp and lifeless no matter how much you've clarified then that's a sign. All these are signs your hair might be lacking in protein. Shedding, breaking, and thinning more than usual can also be indications.
If your hair needs moisture if it won't stretch, doesn't feel soft, is breaking, and dull. If you're not sure you can always do a simple protein treatment and see how your hair reacts to it, like Joico KPak or the reconstructing treatment by Ion. |
HeatherNicole, funny you mention that, my hair usually does all of those things :) Good to know thought! :D
