Okay so we've got the States covered...........here goes for Canada.............Toronto - Curly Hair Institute - Jonathon Torch - great place, friendly staff (not that snobby stuff you find at some 'elite' salons); best is Great tips; etc. etc.

When I get to be 'Queen of the World', I will absolish WIND!!!

redcelticcurls they only JUST created the new board and there's not much on it. So..... I still think it's a good idea for those who have been watching this thread which has been productively filling up to keep working at it. Not to mention that this is a comprehensive list so that people don't have to go through dozens of threads to find the information they were looking for. Aside from that, did you actually have a salon in your state that you wanted to add as a productive addition to this current thread?

Keep at the good suggestions gals and keep watching the thread or referring it to curlies moving to new areas. I think this thread has really taken off and we'll all benefit from a simple one click list.
Yeah, I did see that the other board was new, but I figured that salon posts might just be a better fit there.

Either way, both will grow, so I'll either have to look at many threads or many pages in one thread, so the searchability is about the same.

I already have reviews over in the CurlSalon section, so they are fine there for now, lol.
Kiva! Microfinance works.

Med/Coarse, porous curly.
Hi everyone,

We'd been working on getting a salon section here on CurlTalk for a while, and then when this thread popped up, it reinforced our determination to get that done.

Anyway, it's there now! Please enjoy it.

In terms of the CurlSalons review area of the site, I would like to address a couple of concerns. We did do a big purge of reviews when we moved to the new site. We had many outdated reviews -- stylists who had moved, salons that had closed down, etc. So we cleared out many older reviews.

And please know we do NOT selectively edit/delete reviews, except based on very narrow criteria. Sometimes it's clear that a stylist has posted a review for herself, and that is not permitted. So we don't post that type of review. And sometimes it's clear that a reviewer has a bit of an axe to grind, and the review is abusive or just over the top. We won't post those.

We are very proud of our editorial objectivity and strive to apply it throughout the entire site.

Anyway, thanks for reinforcing our notion to add the salon review area here on CurlTalk. We hope you enjoy it!

You are beautiful!
Best haircut ever! Susanne takes her time and really listens to you. She has curly hair and does the Deva Cut. I even sent her emails before and after my cut for some styling tips, and she replied! Here is her website www.memycurlsandi.com. She charges $130 for hair up to shoulders and $160 for longer hair. But it was completely worth it!

Been to many salons, paid a lot of $$ and got the worse haircuts. I too, don't trust the CurlSalons section, because one of the people with the best reviews, completely ruined my hair! Not once, but twice. Yes, I even went back to give her a second chance and left in tears.

No stylist has 100% satisfaction.

Also, on the CurlSalon section, I seem to notice that bad reviews aren't there. After my bad haircut, I submitted my story twice, and they were not posted. I didn't talk badly or disrespect the stylist, I simply stated my story and it wasn't posted (either time).

It could have been simply a problem on your end, such as internet connection, etc.

So the moderators saw this thread and decided to start a new section. That's great!

As I stated before this thread is for a comprehensive one click list of salons created by curlies for curlies. When the list is done I will repost the finished list on one of the other threads. Since it's got more than
700 HITS
here I for one believe it would be counterproductive to up and stop all our good work when we've come so far and when I've done all this work keeping it updated with the help of all you gals subscribing and submitting your own salon reviews. Thank you so much for all of your contributions. All successful threads are a result of those posting on it.

CurlyBel & BethanyRenee I too think it's unfortunate that poeple have gotten botch jobs at other salons listed in the CurlSalons section. Who knows why it happened but the fact remains that it has indeed happened repeatedly to several different people. The evidence suggests that more than one resource is needed and that's why I created this thread. Why not use both and compare notes. Afterall we are making decisions that may cost hundreds and more importantly inches of hard grown and conditioned curls.

BethanyRenee I think you went a bit overboard accusing CurlyBel of doing something she certainly did not do. If you read all the posts you would see that this wasn't a singular concern to begin with.

Either way this thread is not for you gals to be arguing with each other but for the posting of curly salons. If you're not here contributing or to simply watch the list then take it elsewhere. It's counterproductive if you're coming to this thread for something else. This thread is very appropriately labeled and the initial posts gives very clear instructions.

Let me repeat, this is different from the CurlSalons section. Did you gals get that, this is different from the CurlSalons section. Instead of clicking on state and then clicking on a city to get salons this is a thread that will list all 50 states once it's done. It can be done in 1 click if you bookmark this page on your web browser.

So back to business already.

This week's goal is for 5 more salons and guess what we've already got 3 and it's only Wednesday.

2 MORE STATES FOR THIS WEEK
to total 10 states

Thank you CurliLocks, Notty, & CurlyBel for your salon contributions! This is great. We've actually got a suggestion in Canada and FINALLY one for the southwest and the West Coast. Good going gals!!! You're awsome!

Girls just a reminder that 2 more states are needed to hit this week's goal.
In search of a good salon in Central Connecticut.

Derek at Headliners in Tolland, Connecticut is decent. I've had great haircuts and ones that were so bad I had to go in a second time to have them fixed. So it's sort of hit or miss with him. www.headlinersinc.com

Jo at Jo Bruno Salon in New Haven, CT is a certified curl care consultant and follows the devachan method. She was pretty good but it's a far commute. www.jobrunohair.com
