Yeah, I did see that the other board was new, but I figured that salon posts might just be a better fit there.
Either way, both will grow, so I'll either have to look at many threads or many pages in one thread, so the searchability is about the same.
I already have reviews over in the CurlSalon section, so they are fine there for now, lol.

Hi everyone,
We'd been working on getting a salon section here on CurlTalk for a while, and then when this thread popped up, it reinforced our determination to get that done.
Anyway, it's there now! Please enjoy it.
In terms of the CurlSalons review area of the site, I would like to address a couple of concerns. We did do a big purge of reviews when we moved to the new site. We had many outdated reviews -- stylists who had moved, salons that had closed down, etc. So we cleared out many older reviews.
And please know we do NOT selectively edit/delete reviews, except based on very narrow criteria. Sometimes it's clear that a stylist has posted a review for herself, and that is not permitted. So we don't post that type of review. And sometimes it's clear that a reviewer has a bit of an axe to grind, and the review is abusive or just over the top. We won't post those.
We are very proud of our editorial objectivity and strive to apply it throughout the entire site.
Anyway, thanks for reinforcing our notion to add the salon review area here on CurlTalk. We hope you enjoy it!

California, San Diego- Re:Vive Salon, Susanne Kende
Best haircut ever! Susanne takes her time and really listens to you. She has curly hair and does the Deva Cut. I even sent her emails before and after my cut for some styling tips, and she replied! Here is her website www.memycurlsandi.com. She charges $130 for hair up to shoulders and $160 for longer hair. But it was completely worth it!
Been to many salons, paid a lot of $$ and got the worse haircuts. I too, don't trust the CurlSalons section, because one of the people with the best reviews, completely ruined my hair! Not once, but twice. Yes, I even went back to give her a second chance and left in tears.

But the same person could type the same review here. That doesn't make any sense why you would trust their judgment on this thread but not if they take the extra time to put a review in the proper place- in the CurlSalons section. I've been using the CurlSalons section for years and I haven't had a problem. Just like anything, some people will have bad experiences and some people will have good experiences. No stylist has 100% satisfaction.

True, but the CurlSalons section doesn't say who wrote the review, and even though I haven't been on these message boards much, I'm becoming familiar with names and pictures and get a "feeling" for people throught their comments. Which is harder to gather from the curlsalon section. I don't know, I just trust the thread more, because the people are more open and I can see they have posted elsewhere. Also, on the CurlSalon section, I seem to notice that bad reviews aren't there. After my bad haircut, I submitted my story twice, and they were not posted. I didn't talk badly or disrespect the stylist, I simply stated my story and it wasn't posted (either time).

Maybe none of the stylists you saw on there had bad reviews. I know a stylist I use is on there and she has both bad and good reviews. To think that Gretchen and Michelle aren't posting bad reviews is ridiculous and has a little bit of a "conspiracy theorist" vibe. It could have been simply a problem on your end, such as internet connection, etc.

In search of a good salon in Central Connecticut.
Derek at Headliners in Tolland, Connecticut is decent. I've had great haircuts and ones that were so bad I had to go in a second time to have them fixed. So it's sort of hit or miss with him. www.headlinersinc.com
Jo at Jo Bruno Salon in New Haven, CT is a certified curl care consultant and follows the devachan method. She was pretty good but it's a far commute. www.jobrunohair.com
