This is something I've had done to my hair since I was about 10 --it's a clarifying treatment used to remove build-up of sorts. At 10, my hair would turn lime green in some parts from spending the summer in a chlorine cleaned pool.

As I got older, I continued to use it to remove iron (especially at my dad's --his well water is pure rust!). I always found it as a great alternative to dying my hair, just one treatment seems to brighten my natural highlights so much! I have a ton of these crystal packets from sally's I mix with water, lather on shampoo-ed hair, throw a heating cap on and sit under a head dryer for about 20-45 minutes. Typically, I would follow up with a DT under the head dryer as well for another 30 min or so --and those were always the rare days I left my hair naturally curly because they would look and feel awesome!!

I've been attempting research now on the ingredient list of the current brand I have now; haven't found anything too frightening (nor too good) about these and was wondering if anyone else uses these? Are they going to be CG-safe?

The brand I have now is Ion, Crystal Clarifying Treatment.

Ingredients: Sodium gluconate, ascorbic acid, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, glucose, citric acid, malic acid, polyquaternium-10, aloe barbadensis, and Allantoin.

It's funny you brought this product up as I just bought their shampoo yesterday because I have hard water. I know when I clarify I will probably have some ingredients that are not too great but I will sacrifice that to get some of the minerals out of my hair. The shampoo did make my hair feel very clean but not stripped if that makes sense and once I put my conditioner in - my hair felt fine. No dryness yesterday or any 'extra' frizziness. I saw they had a bunch of packets for different types of issues/hair.

Here are the ingredients for the Well Water Action Shampoo:
Ingredients: Water (Aqua, Eau), Sodium C14-15 Olefin Sulfonate, Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, Lauramide DEA, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Ascorbic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Panthenol, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Polyquaternium-10, Sodium Gluconate, Methylparaben, Keratin Amino Acids, Glucose, Propylparaben, Wheatgermamidopropyl Dimethylamine Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Hydrolyzed Silk, Parfum, Blue 1.

I have used both products and I find the crystal pacs for some reason to be less drying on my hair. I got the shampoo to use in between Im wondering now if the Malibu brand would be less drying for my hair. The down side to that is I would have to order online but I use so little shampoo that I would have it forever.
